IE7.0 must disable anti-malware programs during installation

Many people have asked us why we recommend temporarily disabling anti-virus and anti-spyware software (here I collectively refer to anti-malware programs) before installing IE7. Here, a log from the IE official blog may be done on this issue. Answer.

"In the IE installation process, when copying IE7 files to your system, it also writes a lot of information to the registry. The general malware program is to block certain registry keys used by IE. Write to protect your computer. In order to solve this problem, in most cases, we perform a license check at the beginning of the installation, but many anti-malware programs detect the registry key instead of modifying the license. So, at the beginning The installer thinks it has been licensed, but will fail when trying to write to the registry.

Most users may install when anti-malware programs are enabled, but they are not encountered. This problem is due to the fact that we require third-party vendors to identify IE installations as "secure" based on digital signatures or file hashes, etc. Although this has enabled us to safely remove the recommendation to disable anti-malware programs, But we still decided to keep this suggestion at the time of installation, because there are still many factors that cause this problem.

  • Sometimes the anti-malware we tested requires the latest virus database upgrade, and a user is not always under the latest virus database definition, so he may have passed the test we have passed. The situation also has such problems.
  • Installation failure is a bad experience, so we are taking every measure to reduce the possibility of installation failure."
