Windows 7 runs Firefox 3, IE8 is faster

In a review by foreign media BetaNews on Tuesday, running Firefox 3 and running IE8 in Windows 7 was faster than in Vista, while Firefox 3.5 was slower. BetaNews's evaluation staff compared the relative speed of mainstream browsers in different virtual system environments. The results show that the performance of IE8 is improved by 23% under Windows 7, and the Firefox 3.0.10 version has also improved a lot, and the performance is improved by 17.5%. .

These preliminary test results show that the architecture of Windows 7 is more or less likely to affect the performance of mainstream web browsers. The test used the environment on Windows XP SP3 to install Vista and Windows 7 through the virtual machine software Virtual PC 2007 SP1 to create a relatively fair environment.

At the beginning of the test, Betanews chose Firefox 1.5, but later found that this version could not run on Win7. Later, I chose Firefox 2.0.13 instead of the latest versions. This version of the browser was used to establish a relative standard to evaluate the performance of IE7 in different environments.

In the Vista virtual environment, Firefox 2.0.13 has a performance index of 2.49 versus IE7, which means a relative execution efficiency of 249%. The performance index of Firefox 3.0.10 is 5.19 in Vista virtual environment! The performance index of IE8 is 2.19.

In Win7 virtual environment, Firefox 3.5Beta4 runs down 2.5%, performance index is 10.18, and in Vista, this index is 10.44.

All tests currently show that Windows 7 can help programs run faster.
