Further - Security Enhancements in Windows 7 RTM

The security architecture of Windows 7 is based entirely on Vista and its security features are simpler and more applicable than Vista. In terms of security, Windows 7 inherits some of the advantages of Vista, and its improvements are mainly for end-user needs and real-life experience.

Behavior Center

Although the Action Center is not the only security feature of Windows 7, the Action Center provides a secure, centralized information notification system. The Action Center replaces the Windows XP SP2 Security Center and includes multiple maintenance tools, including troubleshooting and Windows backup.

addition to adding some non-security tools outside, Windows 7 Action Center does not seem so from the eye. Unlike Vista, the Windows 7 Action Center does not pop up a balloon window every 15 minutes.

User Account Control

If Windows Vista has a special feature, it must be User Account Control (UAC). Many users are greatly dissatisfied with Vista's UAC settings. But what I don't understand is that Mac OS X and Linux have joined UAC's annoying pop-ups many years ago (it's as annoying as Vista). Despite this, most users still think there is a problem with Vista's UAC settings.

In fact, due to other security settings such as UAC, Windows Vista's virus infection rate is 60% lower than Windows XP SP2 without UAC. Therefore, Microsoft rejoined the UAC feature in Windows 7.

Windows UAC function 7 is two-fold improvement. First of all, it is no longer annoying. The UAC prompt frequency of Windows 7 is significantly lower than that of Vista, and some meaningless prompt information no longer appears.

Second, Windows 7 UAC functionality of the user interface more user-friendly. The new UAC feature is divided into four levels of alerting: notification of each system change, a prompt only when the program attempts to change the computer, a prompt only when the program attempts to change the computer (without using a secure desktop), and never prompting.

Windows Defender

Microsoft's first Windows Defender anti-spyware software is a plug-in for Windows XP, which is also included in Windows Vista. In Windows XP and Windows Vista, Windows Defender has a very useful feature - the software resource manager. This feature prevents some programs from starting up and can view detailed information about the software currently running on your computer that affects privacy or computer security.

In Windows 7, Windows Defender's Software Explorer function was removed. Microsoft this explanation:

"It spyware detection and removal is not much action."

despite Software Explorer feature has been removed, but Windows 7 is still Windows Defender Some improvements. The new Windows Defender has a simpler user interface and it alerts users through the Action Center. Microsoft has enabled Windows Defender to have real-time monitoring capabilities, and its resources are much smaller than before.

Windows 7 users need to note that the new generation of Windows Defender technology has been included in the Microsoft Security Essentials (Microsoft's free anti-virus software). When the user installs MSE, Windows Defender will be removed.
