Choose to turn off Windows 7 video preview to save system resources [map]

The file preview feature on the Windows 7 Super Taskbar is not just a little more advanced than the Windows XP taskbar. But such advances require hardware configuration to support, because file previews, especially for previewing video files, will consume more system resources. (Because the preview process, the video file can be played. In addition, the consumption of system resources depends on the number of open video files.)

Good features, but need high hardware configuration support, which does not Less users are hard to choose. In fact, we can take a compromise approach, selectively closing certain types of file previews, leaving only the common file format preview feature. For example, because the video file preview is relative to the preview of the image and other files, it takes up more resources. We can consider canceling the preview of the video file and retaining the preview of other file formats such as images.

Step 1: Create a new notebook and enter the following:

Windows Registry Edit Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.aviShellEx]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.asfShellEx]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.wmvShellEx]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.rmShellEx]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.rmvbShellEx]

Last , save the file in .reg format (registry file), then double-click the file to import it into the registry.

Tip: Similarly, if you want to cancel the preview function of a file format, add the suffix of the corresponding format of each file.

Step 2: Go to any folder, click “Tools”→“Folder Options", in the dialog that opens, switch to the “View” tab, then In the “Advanced Settings” area, pull the slider on the right to find “Always show icons, never show thumbnails”.

After setting, click the “OK” button to exit the dialog.

If you want to cancel the video file preview limit, please enter the registry editor, find the corresponding item in the "first step" operation, and then delete each corresponding key value.
