Win7 system security settings

1, Patch everything

In the default settings of Windows 7, Windows Upgrade Service will automatically download and install important Windows system and application upgrade packages.

One study shows that Microsoft's software is the most patched product in the world. But the system does not remind you to update other non-system software, such as browsers, media players, etc. in a timely manner. Hackers now like to attack computers from these aspects.

The zero-day attack launched last week for IE is a typical example. Try to ensure that the programs running on the system have been upgraded to the new version, minimizing the possibility of the existence of the vulnerability.

2, Enable BitLocker

The disk encryption bit lock in Windows 7 can be used to encrypt information on any hard disk, including boot, system and even mobile media. Right-click on the mouse to encrypt the data in the Windows Explorer. The user can select the file that you want to lock in the setup menu. The encrypted file can be set to read-only and cannot be re-encrypted.

After saving the Bitlocker information, the computer is shut down. The BitLocker recovery information is stored in the computer's properties file. In most cases, the automatic backup user's password is restored to Active Directory. So make sure you can access these properties to prevent files from being recovered after losing your password.

3, Install anti-spam and anti-malware software

For users, threats usually come from Trojans, malware, and fake virus scanners. Whether you are a computer expert or a rookie, it is necessary to equip a suitable anti-virus software, while keeping in mind the anti-virus software updates and new malware attacks.

4, Enable the SmartScreen Filter in Internet Explorer 8 (open IE8 smart filtering function)

The browser is gradually becoming the most vulnerable target, Windows 7 browser IE8 security menu There is an intelligent screen capture filtering function. After users turn on this function, they can link with Microsoft's website database to compare the security of the websites visited by the audit, which greatly reduces the possibility of poisoning the unidentified websites.

5, Raise the UAC slider bar

Windows 7 user account control has been greatly improved, the performance of the legal and illegal programs is very accurate and rapid. The defense level of different sensitivities can be selected according to the default UAC security level setting of the user's login mode (administrator or normal user).

Windows 7 has designed a simple user account control scroll bar to allow administrators or standard users to set their UAC security level.

It is recommended to set the UAC security level to "Always notify". Please be assured that the security notifications encountered in Windows 7 are much less than Vista.

Although the UAC feature provides a necessary defense mechanism, please use the administrator account carefully for system stability.

6. Take an inventory

After using the user for a while, the computer will become slower. This is usually due to the large amount of junk files generated in the system. Cleaning out useless junk files is equivalent to losing weight to your own computer.

There are many ways to clean up. There is a tool in Windows 7: Microsoft’s Autoruns. Autorun records every program and service that has been run in the system. You can delete useless files with a click of the mouse.

What needs to be noted here is that if you encounter a program that you don't know, do a survey and then do it to prevent accidental deletion of important data.

7, Back up your data (backup data)

The road is one foot high, the height is one foot. Sometimes it is really hard to prevent, even if a lot of efforts are made, when the virus comes to temporary defense measures may still become vulnerable. Backing up important data in time is king, so even if you encounter a very vicious virus, you can easily solve it by restoring data.
