Win 8 system fully supports USB 3.0

Although the USB3.0 interface has already demonstrated a significant speed advantage and is widely expected by users, Intel and AMD's chipset are not intended to provide native support in the short term. Steve Peterson, director of product line marketing for Intel chipset, even bluntly attended the CeBIT global conference in Hanover, Germany. He believes that only when Microsoft's next-generation client operating system Windows8 is popular, USB 3.0 will become the mainstream.

Windows7 released in late October, his successor would have already put on the development schedule at that time. According to current general expectations, Windows 8 is expected to be released at the end of 2011, but it is also likely to wait until 2012, which is also in line with the Microsoft product roadmap.

StevePeterson revealed that, Intel is working with Microsoft to ensure that Windows8 to fully support USB3.0, but Intel will not blindly optimistic on the popularity of new technologies in the mainstream over the next few years will be equipped with only high-end PC USB3 .0 interface.

Another source said, Windows7SP1 will begin to add support for USB3.0, but Microsoft did not deny nor confirm. Of course, if it is true, it will definitely promote the popularity of USB3.0.
