Set up the Win 7 folder navigation area

Windows 7 Explorer is very different from XP, one of which is the default display navigation pane on the left, which is displayed in a tree structure, which allows you Quickly navigate to a deeper folder. However, one less intimate point is that it does not clearly identify the current folder, but we can manually add a conspicuous logo to it.

Be prepared, you need to collect some transparent background icon files in .ico format and store them in a relatively fixed place.

Let's get started, first enter regedit in the start menu search box to start the registry editor;

Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\explorer\\Shell Icons

Note: If the explorer does not find the Shell Icons item, right click on the explorer, "new" an "item", rename it to "Shell Icons", pay attention to the case and the middle Space.

Then enter the right pane, right click to create a new "string value" and name it "4" (if this "4" does not exist), and finally right click on the "4" select "Modify (M ), "Data Value" fill in the full path of the icon you want to transform, and then exit the Registry Editor after confirming.

Save the work you are doing on your hands, log out of the system and log back in, then open the Explorer to see if the selected folder icon has changed. Not only is there a change in this place, look at the program folder in the Start menu, or check the Registry Editor again.
