Testing: Windows 7 architecture helps improve browser performance

Does Windows 7 have a significant effect on browser performance? This is a problem that many users care about. The BetaNews website has a simple test of the browser performance on Vista and Windows 7 virtual machines. The results show that the overall performance of IE8 on Windows 7 has increased by 23%, and Firefox 3.0.10 has 17.5. % increase.

This test selects the host running Windows XP SP3, and runs Vista and Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) respectively through the Virtual PC 2007 platform. However, it can be clearly seen that the running speed of the Windows 7 virtual machine is lower than that. On Vista, it was initially estimated to run 12.1% slower than the Vista virtual machine.

Of course, this is not to say that the Windows 7 operating system is worse than Vista, but this is only the case in a specific virtual environment. After all, this is a virtual platform developed for Vista. But in this case, the speed of IE8 and Firefox 3.0.10 on the Windows 7 virtual machine is still significantly faster than the speed on the Vista virtual machine.

The test still selects IE7 as the standard 1.0. In the Vista virtual machine, the Firefox 3.0.10 performance index is 5.19, which means that the performance is 519% of IE7 and IE8 is 2.19; in Windows 7 virtual machine The Firefox 3.0.10 performance index is 6.10 and IE8 is 2.69.

However, for Mozilla, there is still a bad news here, that is, its latest Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 is slower in Windows 7 than in Vista, in the Vista virtual machine, its performance index It was 10.44, but it dropped 2.5% to 10.18 in the Windows 7 virtual machine.
