Win7 virtual memory setting system partition is no longer bigger

Because of the reason for playing games, the memory of the computer has been upgraded recently, and the 64-bit Win7 Ultimate has been newly installed. However, after using it for a while, the partition capacity of the win7 system is getting bigger every day, and it is still used after cleaning. Continue to grow bigger, why is this?

First, the cause analysis

In general, this situation can first check the virtual memory settings. Normally, virtual memory is managed by the system by default after the initial installation is completed without making relevant optimizations for the system. For example, if your computer is configured with 8GB of memory, then the win7 system will automatically divide an 8GB storage area in the partition where the system is located. As the usage time increases, the capacity value will become larger and larger, which will result in The partition capacity of the win7 system is getting bigger every day.

Second, adjust the Win7 virtual memory settings

Both want to make the virtual memory of the 64-bit Win7 system work, but also want to avoid too high the capacity of the partition where the system is occupied, the simple method is Modify the settings for virtual memory. For example, transfer it to other non-system partitions. The specific adjustment steps are as follows:

STEP1: Right click on the desktop “Computer” icon, select the “Properties” command, and click on the left side of the window that opens. “Advanced System Settings” Then, under the "System Properties" dialog box, click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" column, as shown in Figure 1:

STEP2: Under the “Performance Options” dialog box, click ““Change” button; after opening the virtual memory setting dialog box, first cancel the top “automatically manage all” The drive's paging file size & rdquo; one, as shown in Figure 2.

STEP3: The next step is to enter the important manual adjustment steps. A total of six steps: select the partition where win7 → select “ no paging file & rdquo; an & rarquo; click & ldquo; set & rdquo; button & rar;; then select the target partition to transfer virtual memory (non-system Partition) → set the virtual memory value according to the physical memory size → click “ set & rdquo; completed, as shown in Figure 3.

Third, look at the virtual memory consumed by the software in the task manager

Understanding the virtual memory values consumed by the system software will be more helpful We manage and set up virtual memory reasonably so that each software works at its best. Under win7 system, we can use the task manager to view the virtual memory value consumed by the software. The specific method is as follows:

In the win7 system, press the “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” key combination to call up the task manager, switch to the “process” and click “Click” to view → select the column & rdquo; command; find and check the "memory - commit size" in the settings dialog that opens, as shown in Figure 4. After confirming the return to the <;process” tag item, you can clearly see the virtual memory value of each software process in “submit size", as shown in Figure 5.

Some users advocate turning off virtual memory, thinking that since the computer has been configured with 8GB Memory, then virtual memory is not acceptable. In fact, this understanding is wrong. On the one hand, virtual memory is a necessary condition for some programs to run normally; on the other hand, virtual memory has a significant effect on improving the data transfer rate of hard disk data relative to the data transfer rate of the hard disk. Manage the use of virtual memory, win7 system will definitely bring you more stable and reliable use!
