One engine, two experiences
Performance. Metro style IE has the same industry-leading performance as the desktop IE. This includes full hardware acceleration for images, video and audio, compiled JavaScript, and a new layout and formatting engine optimized for touch response.
Security. Metro style IE also features industry-leading security, privacy and reliability features as well as desktop IE. This includes SmartScreen, XSS filtering, and InPrivate browsing.
HTML5. Metro style IE and desktop IE also support rich HTML5 web programming mode. On BUILD, we introduced new support for CSS text shadows, CSS 3D deformations, IndexedDB, Web Sockets, HTML5 file APIs, Html5 history, hyphenation, CSS transformations and animations, Html5 application caching, and previous in IE10. Other new features shown in the platform preview.
The new Metro style is more than just a visual design. For example, this style allows you to access important websites with less typing. When you open a new tab or bring up the address bar, you'll see a touch-friendly visual listing of the websites you visit frequently and have attached.

Spell check and Auto-completion also reduces the amount of typing you need to access your site. Please note that you can even browse using InPrivate and Tracking Protection.
To make it easy for you to access and work with your site of interest, you can attach it to the new Windows 8 start screen just like any other Metro style app.

Placing a website to the start screen
IE10 increases the spacing of controls (such as checkboxes and radio buttons) to make it more suitable for touch. Developers can use standard web patterns such as CSS to style control styles to further enhance the touchability of the site. Metro Style IE supports touch pan and slide zoom. Because the Html5 engine takes full advantage of the full hardware acceleration, web browsing will be as fast and smooth as the rest of the system. Scrolling and panning can achieve the same excellent results.
