C disk space becomes smaller and smaller after upgrading to Win8

Problem Analysis:

1, system page file (virtual memory) takes up space

2, automatically updated cache file

3, system protection backup file (for system restore)

4, hibernation file

5, index file

6, desktop file < Br>

Solution:

1. The small machine is 8G memory, no need for virtual memory, so right click on the computer -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings -> Advanced -> Change, remove the automatic management hook, click no page file, point settings, OK, restart, or change to another partition, just click the no page file, set the D disk, point the system management size , point settings, OK, restart. Reduce the occupancy of about 8G.

2, automatic update cache file can be deleted, C: WINDOWSSoftwareDistributionDownload, can be deleted, but it is best to close the automatic update after the update is complete. Reduce the occupancy of a few hundred M.

3, this can also be deleted, right-click computer, advanced system settings -> system protection -> configuration -> disable, delete, OK. Approximately 4G of occupancy is reduced.

4, the hibernation file must first use a command, win X select the administrator command line, enter powercfg -h off, which can reduce the occupation of 6G.

5, the index file can be deleted or transferred, in order to retain the function or transfer it. Control panel, index options, advanced, select new location, OK. This index file is transferred, if you do not want to search for features, then delete it. The method is win r enter service.msc to find Windows search, select disable, and then find a very large file in C: ProgramDataMicrosoftSearch, you can delete. Xiaobian's problem is mainly here, because the office workers have a lot of files, and other locations besides the C drive are added to the index. It is convenient to find files~~But the index file exceeds 30G inadvertently! Decisive transfer!

6, desktop files, very simple, transfer or delete!
