If your computer is currently running Windows 8 (or Windows RT) and you want to update to Windows 8.1 (or Windows RT 8.1), in most cases you will see free updates in the prominent location on the Windows Store home page. If the app store is open but you don't see the update, it may be caused by one of the following reasons:

The version of Windows 8 you are running may not support updates from the app store

Some versions of Windows 8 do not support upgrading to Windows via app store 8.1. The following version:

Windows 8 Pro (if installed by an organization or program that uses volume licensing). Please contact your system administrator or the administrator of the program used to install Windows 8. To refresh content in the Store

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and click "Search".

Enter wsreset.exe in the "Run" command, then click or click "OK".
