Win 8 search can do more than just find files

Everyone has used the search function of Windows. Sometimes I can't think of where a file is placed, so I will give it to the search function to help. However, basically our use of the search function is limited to occasionally finding a file, this is the case in the XP era, and so is Win7. But in the upcoming Win8 era, this phenomenon is likely to change, because the search function in Windows 8 adds a lot of new uses and is no longer limited to searching for files.

More than just finding files Win 8 search can do more computer common sense

Windows 8 search function has changed greatly in appearance, on the desktop or Metro start screen to call out the right side Charm column, click "Search” will see an integrated search interface.

It is classified according to the object, namely application search, set search and file search. Each category has its own shortcut key: Win+Q (application search) ), Win+W (set search) and Win+F (file search), you can directly open the corresponding search category.

If you think Win8's search is just a change of shell, then it's wrong. Note that below the search bar on the right side of the image above, in addition to the three categories, there is a list of installed Metro apps that allow users to search for specific content in those apps.

For example, if you want to search for the stock trend of a company, click on the finance and enter the corresponding company name or code in the search box, and the relevant company information will appear immediately.

Similarly, if we search for weather, we can know the weather information within three days of the place; search travel is the introduction information of the destination; search information, sports, etc. , will list the news information that meets the criteria.

*Note: In the Metro app built into Windows 8 RP, calendar, camera and SkyDrive do not support search.

In other words, Windows 8 combines search and Metro applications. In addition to these built-in applications, it is speculated that third-party Metro applications installed in the future can support search functions (not yet available, at least Chrome uses Windows search). No results are shown).
