Can the installation of win 2003 system be diskless?

No matter what system is installed, it is basically installed with CD-ROM. But if you don't have a CD, can you not install it? Of course, there are many ways to install the system. You don't have to have a CD. You can try diskless installation. Let's give you a diskless installation method.

Prepare:

Software: No version of the standard version of the standard, the program required for the installation process is in the 2003 directory of the CD above the standard version. User-supplied application software and Windows 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition.

Hardware (Note: The following configuration is the minimum configuration, adjusted according to the application environment)

20 workstations, running OFFICE configuration. Note: Workstation 256 colors, no sound!

CPU : P4 1400MHZ Approximate calculation formula: CPU>500MHZ+45* Stations

Memory: 512 M Memory formula: Standard configuration RAM=20M * Workstation number +128M

Hard disk: 40G Best support ATA100, 7200 rpm, 2M or more cache 3 years warranty!!

Optical drive: 40X Graphics card: AGP (TNT2) 2003 comes with driver (stability considerations)

NIC: TX530 PCI interface NIC (8029, TX530)

Optional Internet access (at least with ISDN)

Workstation:

CPU: 486 66MHZ or more memory memory above 1M (Pentium series 16M memory recommended)

Memory: EDO 8M

NIC: UM9008, RTL8019, RTL8029, RTL8139 are directly available. Other various types of spare drive disks, the network card chip is NT RPL chip

Note: Each network card has its own boot chip!

Note that the server network card should use PCI, because PCI supports PNP. After installing 2003, Windows2003 will automatically install the NIC program, generally no need to set up.

Installation:

Firstly, use Win98 to start the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM. The main partition of the hard disk is divided into FAT32 partitions. Generally, you can take 4G or more. You can back up Win2003 and activate it. Other spaces do not need to be partitioned, restarted and formatted. Then copy the I386 of the Win2003 CD into the hard disk, and pay attention to loading the disk buffer (SMARTDRV.EXE). Otherwise copying files is very slow. Start the installer (Note: Run WinNT under DOS, not SETUP), enter the installation of Windows2003, install the program requires partition during the installation process, pay attention to install the partition of Windows2003 system software (the system is generally installed to D: be careful not to install in C: Because C: is FAT32 format, you can't set permissions.) To format with NTFS, be sure to use NTFS format, because only NTFS format can set local permissions. (General 40G hard disk such partition C: 4000M FAT32 boot partition D: 6000M NTFS system partition E: 10G or more NTFS user partition) Follow the prompts to install Windows2003. The server name uses SERVER, which will be much less trouble, because my program is set with the SERVER name. After the installation is complete, the first time we start, we can see the interface for managing your server. At this point, we can complete the installation of the server system! Here we can say that we can manage the interface of your server. Check the currently installed service role. Note that the services we don't need are not installed. Install the service as little as possible. For example, do not install the domain controller (Active Directory), IIS, POP3, etc. In short, the whole After the server is installed, we only install the following required services, file server, terminal server, and DHCP server. After the server is installed, if you manage your server, if your service exceeds these and you have no other programs that need extra services, delete the other services! In this case, the server may run normally, otherwise If it is, it may be very slow!
