Teach you to solve the problem of Win system getting smaller and smaller

First of all, we must know that Windows 7 does not occupy such a large space, in addition to including virtual memory and other files, in order to ensure the system is more smooth. Of course, it is recommended that you partition the C drive at 30G or higher during installation, because many friends now install the software on the C drive, and the daily use will also reduce the capacity of the C drive, so the system home small editor suggested It is better to allocate a larger space if you have the conditions. Usually after installing Windows 7, there are mainly the following folders in the C drive, which is also the main source of space usage:

Program Files: Application folder, the general software will be installed here by default ( 64-bit users will have one more Program Files (X86) folder, which is the installation directory of the 32-bit software in the system. It is normal.

ProgramData: System folder, the usage data of the program, settings, etc. It is not recommended to delete.

Windows: The folder that stores the main files of the operating system, very important

Users: Save the user's configuration files and data. The "Users" folder in Windows 7 is actually XP. The Documents and Settings folder.

hiberfil.sys: The hard disk space file occupied by the system's hibernation function

pagefile.sys: virtual memory page file

There are some other folders:

$RECYCLE.BIN : The system folder, that is, the "Recycle Bin", is a

System Volume Information: system volume information file that cannot be deleted. This folder stores the backup information of the system restore.

PerfLogs: Windows log information files, such as disk scan error messages. PerfLogs is automatically generated by the system.

MSOCache: Local installation source for Office

The above is the main file and folder contents in the "C drive", and some other files will appear during the use, for example There may be files named after the alphanumeric characters. This may be an update temporary folder for Windows Update, which is usually deleted automatically.

The following rainforest woodwind xp system downloads the Windows folder and user folder in detail:

Windows folder:

This folder is the main storage system for this Windows system. Files, which occupy the largest folders are system32 and winsxs.

System32: System important folder, contains a large number of users Windows files, mainly Dll, CPL, drivers and some files that support the system.

Winsxs:Winsxs is a very important folder in the Windows directory of VISTA/Windows 7. There are many important components in this folder, and the version is very complicated. In order to ensure the normal operation of Windows, the files inside It cannot be deleted.

User Folder:

This folder will include the data, program content, and documents, music, etc. during the user's use. After entering the user folder, the user name will be found. Folder, when opened, you will see the desktop, my music, my pictures, my videos, favorites, my documents, music, AppData, Downloads and other folders.

Desktop: will save all the content on the current user's desktop, many friends are used to put the file on the desktop, these also occupy the C drive space!

My music, my pictures, my videos: As the name implies, these contents are saved here by default, of course, many of my friends are in separate places. In addition, one thing to note is that content such as apps downloaded using itunes will be placed in my music folder by default, and will also take up space on the C drive.

Favorites: Contains the Favorites file in IEBrowser

Downloads: IE and some browsers or other programs download some content by default here. It will also take up some "C drive" space.

My document: It is my document, which saves a lot of program log files. For example, the data files of commonly used folders such as Outlook, QQ, MSN and so on will be saved here.

AppData: The data storage of the program, that is, the Application Data in the Windows system, the user-defined settings in the installation software, the temporary folder, the quick startup folder, etc.

Before us Introduced the contents of the "C drive", let's look at how to make the larger and larger "C drive".

1. Clean up temporary files: You can free up disk space and make computer
run faster through the system's own disk cleanup. This program deletes temporary files, emptys the recycle bin, and deletes various system files and other items that are no longer needed. You can enter "“Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu search box to enter, select the partition to be cleaned, select the file type to be deleted and then OK to clean it up. (Other third-party software also includes cleaning functions, such as Ccleaner software, but third-party software may have certain risks, please pay attention when using)

2. Delete useless software: In fact, some friends will ask, I have a lot of software installed in the C drive, but why is the C drive space still less and less? In fact, although the software installation is not in the C drive, the data generated by the software, the user-used custom data, etc. are stored in the C drive, such as ProgramData, AppData, etc., these software will still occupy some space. It is recommended that you do not install too much software that is not used. It is best to delete the one-time use software after use.

3. Don't have too many desktop files: Although the files are conveniently placed on the desktop, over time, you will develop the habit of putting everything on your desktop. Although this is very convenient, but it will take up the C disk space, and some friends will even reach a few G or more. So everyone can put the files in other partitions is the best drop, of course, you can also create a folder in other partitions, then shortcut to the desktop, drag the file into it just fine. In addition, you can change the location of the desktop folder to another location, which we will introduce below.

4. The location of those folders: the desktop, Downloads, my pictures/music/video folders in the C drive user folder, the default is on the C drive, but you can manually change these files The position of the clip. To get the desktop: Open the C drive - user - corresponding username folder, right click on the desktop folder icon, select Properties, click the "Location" tab, and then click Move to select the folder of the other partition to save the content, other Folders can also be set according to this method (if there is a problem after the transfer, click “ restore defaults & rdquo; to restore the default settings, click & ldquo; find the target & rdquo; can locate the corresponding directory)

5. Why does sleep also take up space: Some friends will ask, why do I take up space to sleep? First of all, let's take a look at hibernation. Hibernate actually saves the data in the memory on the hard disk and shuts down the computer. When it is turned on, it will restore the data to the memory again, which is convenient for quick startup. If the "Hibernate" function of Windows is enabled, a file of the same size as the memory will be generated on the system disk, named hiberfil.sys, and this file cannot be transferred to other partitions, so the sleep function will be occupied. C disk space, if you can not use it can be closed by command:

In the search box of the start menu, enter cmd, then right click on the cmd.exe icon and select “ run as administrator ”, enter the following command at the flashing position of the cursor and click Enter to make the command take effect.

powercfg -h off

When we look at the space on the system disk, we will find that there are more than a few G free space.

6. What to do with virtual memory: Virtual memory is a combination of the computer's RAM and the temporary space on the hard disk. When RAM is slow, virtual memory moves data from RAM into a space called a paging file. Moving data in and out of paging files frees up RAM so that the computer can get the job done. Generally speaking, the virtual memory is automatically managed by the system when the system is installed. Of course, we can adjust these manually. In order to reduce the space occupied by the C drive, we can move the paging file to other disks with larger space to save the system. Disk space and reduce disk fragmentation:

(1) Right click on “computer" and click “properties", in the open page, click on Advanced System Settings on the left, in Open the window, click the "Settings" button in the Performance section, and find the "Advanced" tab

(2) Click the "Change" button to open the "Virtual Memory" in the open In the window, cancel the "Automatically manage the paging file size of all drives" check box, then select "No paging file", click the "Settings" button to make the settings take effect, so that the paging file in the system disk It was deleted.

(3) Select another disk of the system disk and check the size of the system management, click the “Set" button, click “OK", and restart the computer according to the prompts. The settings take effect. This way, the paging file is transferred to another disk.

When our C drive is getting smaller and smaller, don't worry, look at the above methods, which can help save some space.
