The vdi file created under VirtualBox cannot be used after moving [Workaround]

Occasionally use other systems, such as old
Windows
XP, Linux, you need to use virtual machine software, generally I will use VirtualBox, because free … … VMware is very good, but you understand —— paid software.

The file of the hard disk was recently sorted, and an XP vdi file was moved to another location, and then the error message indicating that uuid already exists in VirtualBox is not available.

G For a moment, it turns out that VirtualBox is different from VMware. You can't copy virtual disk files directly like VMware, because VirtualBox recognizes virtual disk files. VDI uses uuid recognition technology.

The solution should be to redistribute uuid, but the UI interface did not find such options, and G again, you can use the command:

1. Command window to the directory where VirtualBox is located, such as My

D:cd \\WIN_Program\\VirtualBox

2. Reassign uuid command

VBoxManage internalcommands sethduuid image file path

Note: “image file path”if directory Use spaces with spaces.

If you want to copy, use the Clone function of VirtualBox, this will assign a new uuid to the newly copied vdi file, the command is as follows:

VBoxManage clonevdi Original VDI file new VDI file

Same: "Mirror file path" If the directory has spaces, use English double quotes and the original hard disk image will be released and deleted from the Virtual Media Manager. Otherwise, an error will be reported.

End, continue toss.
