system upgrades will generate a backup update on the system installation disk, each time the system is patched, it will plug files into the system disk. The key is these old update files. It will not be destroyed by the arrival of new files, and the so-called WinSxS update redundancy will be formed during the night. Microsoft officials also recognized this problem, so the DISM command was released to allow users to manually clean up and release redundancy. This article will share how to use the DISM command to release the redundant updates in the Win8/Win8.1 system disk, leaving only the latest version.

Where is Windows redundancy?

We say that the Windows redundancy update refers to some patch update files located in the C drive. The detailed path is X:\\Windows\\WinSxS (X: represents the actual system drive letter of the user). For example, the Flash Player that comes with the Windows 8.1 system will be updated once a month, and the update files are stored in the backup file of amd64_adobe-flash-for-windows or ia86_adobe-flash-for-windows.

The effect of cleaning varies from person to person. If the system has been used for a long time, the space released after cleaning is very impressive. Of course, the new system is not very redundant because of the lack of redundancy.
