Microsoft extended the support period for Skylake Win7/8.1 system: 2023

At the beginning of 2016, when Intel released the commercial version of Skylake's six-generation Core processor, Microsoft suddenly made an incomprehensible decision: after July 17, 2017, based on this platform and equipped with Windows 7/8.1 system The device will no longer receive Microsoft technical support and update services and must be upgraded to Windows 10!

This is another unacceptable overlord policy in Microsoft's efforts to promote Windows 10, especially for corporate customers, which means that it will lose security protection without upgrading the new system in a year and a half.

Many people have asked Microsoft to extend this deadline through OEMs, but have not received a response.

But today, Microsoft has once again changed its policy and announced the extension of the support period for Skylake Windows 7/8.1:

1, Skylake Windows 7/8.1 support its heart Extension for one year: from July 17, 2017 to July 17, 2018.

2, after July 2018, all Windows 7/8.1 emergency security updates will still be pushed to the Skylake platform until the end of the system extension support period: Windows 7 January 14, 2020, Windows 8.1 2023 January 10th.

Microsoft said the move is to allow users to buy new hardware without having to worry about it, and to upgrade to Windows 10 more flexibly over a longer period of time.

At the same time, Microsoft has not forgotten the benefits of Windows 10, claiming that it is compatible with the Skylake platform, graphics performance, battery life is up to 30 times, 3 times the Windows 10 PC, and security support for a longer time.
