OneDrive Placeholder Regression in Win10 RS1 Preview 14271

It has been reported that Microsoft will bring back the OneDrive file placeholder function in Win10 RedStone. It seems that Microsoft has already started this work.

In the Windows 10 RedStone Preview 14271 that Microsoft pushed today, some netizens found the "Placeholder" string from a file named Windows.CloudStore.dll and its MUI file. This means that the OneDrive file placeholder feature may return in the RS1 version.

What is a OneDrive file placeholder?

Friends who have used WinDrive version OneDrive should know the "file placeholder" feature, which allows users to sync only some of the files stored in the cloud, while the rest of the files are only by default. A thumbnail placeholder is displayed in the Explorer. When the user double-clicks on the thumbnail, the full document is downloaded from the cloud. However, this feature was cancelled in Win10, and Microsoft said that the feature was removed because it was a problem for users while offline. However, many users are dissatisfied with Microsoft's approach. In December last year, it was reported that Microsoft would bring back the OneDrive file placeholder in RedStone.
