Steps to add a network printer What is the difference between Win7 and WinXP?

The addition of a network printer to the Win7 system is very different from the XP system. XP can find a network printer through a workgroup. In Win7, you need to add it by computer name or IP address. Searching for network printers often takes a long time and often does not find the printer. Here, introduce the steps for setting up the printer, finding the printer, and so on.

How does the Mac system share windows printers/local printers/network printers?

1. Set the printer to the shared state on the computer connected to the printer. XP systems can find printers directly in Start-Printers and Faxes, then right-click on Share to share. In Win7, there is a slight difference. You need to right click on the printer and select “Printer Properties”.

2. In the printer properties, select Share. Set the printer's share name here. For future search, it is best to set the share name here. Try not to use the original printer name here because the original name is long and it is easy to duplicate the name on the LAN.

3. If the printer is connected to an XP system, you can skip this step. In the Win7 system, you need to set up the network discovery function of the computer, shared services, and so on. Open Network and Sharing Center - Change advanced sharing settings to turn on computer network discovery and more. At this point, the settings are completed on the computer connected to the printer.

4. View the IP address and computer connected to the printer. Computer name by right-clicking on my computer, select Properties, click on the computer name (XP) in the pop-up properties window, Win7 system is to click on the advanced adapter settings, view the computer name. The IP view in the XP system is viewed by double-clicking the local connection in the lower right corner of the computer; the Win7 system is right-clicked through the local connection point in the lower right corner of the computer.

5. On the computer (Win7) that needs to connect to the network printer, open the control panel to find the printer device. Add a printer here, select the network printer and then the next step. Here is a big difference with XP. XP system can only add printer devices. Win7 can add various devices such as scanners and cameras.

6. In the pop-up add network printer interface, the system automatically searches for shared printers in the LAN by default. This method is slower and can't be searched. After clicking here to stop, select “ I need the printer not in the list & rdquo;, the next step is to enter the printer interface through the computer name, IP search network.

7. In this interface, you can search for a network shared printer by computer name, IP, etc.

The computer name, the format is as follows:

\\\\computer name\\printer name

IP mode, the format is as follows:

IP address.

After the system searches for the printer and downloads the printer driver from the computer where the printer is installed for installation.

Note: There is a difference between XP and Win7, the main difference.
