Remove a large number of invalid old icons in the notification area of ​​the Windows 7 taskbar

  

After a period of use of the Windows 7 operating system, a large number of invalid old program icons will be left in the notification area of ​​the taskbar. These programs may even have been uninstalled. So, how do you want to delete these invalid old icons? Follow the small series and follow the steps.

The specific operation is as follows:

First, check the existing icon in the notification area icon

1. Click the triangle button on the right side of the Windows7 Ultimate taskbar. , as shown in Figure 1:

2. In the window that appears, select “Customize”, as shown in Figure 2:

3. In the “Delete Area Icon” window, the drop-down list box will show all the notification area icons, as shown in Figure 3. :

Second, delete the invalid old icon of Windows7 notification area

We can delete it manually by using the registry editor.

1. Click the "Start” button, type “regedit” in the search box of the start menu and press the Enter key on the keyboard, as shown in Figure 4:

2. In the “Registry Editor” window that appears, click on the “Edit” option and click on “(F)… in the column that appears”. ” command, as shown in Figure 5:

3. In the "look up" window, enter "ld"; IconStreams”, and click “ find the next (F) & rdquo;, as shown in Figure 6:

4. Then the registry will search, after the search is completed , the registry key for the notification area icon will be listed “IconStreams” and “PastIconsStream”, as shown in Figure 7, and these two are deleted, the registry editor is closed.

5. On the keyboard, click Ctrl+shift+ESC” to open the Windows 7 Task Manager.

6. In the Windows 7 Task Manager window, switch to the "Processes" tab, find the "explorer.exe" process item, click the "End Process" button to terminate the process item . As shown in Figure 9:

7. In the Windows Task Manager prompt interface, click “ End Process & rdquo;, as shown in Figure 9. :

8.Click the <;File(F)” menu command and select “New Task (Run …) from the drop-down menu that appears ( N) & rdquo;, as shown in Figure 10:

9. In the "Create a new task" window, enter “explorer.exe”, and click “OK”, as shown in Figure 11:
