Win10 free upgrade is only one year, after the upgrade to pay

Computer store news: Microsoft hopes to let Win10 cover 1 billion devices within 3 years. In order to achieve this goal, Microsoft has taken some measures. The most important means is to provide free upgrades for Win7, Win8.1 and WP8.1 users. . In a post on the Microsoft Australia Partner Network today, Microsoft made it clear that Win10 is only a one-year free upgrade, and upgrades will require a fee.

This post also says that after the one-year free upgrade offer, you will be offered an upgrade to purchase boxed products (we think Microsoft will still provide a digital version). The original text is as follows:

Within one year after the official release of Win10, Microsoft will provide a free upgrade for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows Phone 8.1 devices with licenses. After one year, you need to upgrade Windows 10 by purchasing boxed products and volume licenses.

Previously, Microsoft only said that it would provide a free upgrade within one year after the release of Win10, but Microsoft did not explain it after one year. There is speculation that Microsoft may extend this preferential policy, but now we have received a response from Microsoft, the free upgrade is only available in the first year, after this optimization plan will not be extended.

After the release of Win10, Microsoft will provide a paid upgrade channel for Windows XP or Vista users. According to WZor, the upgrade fee for XP users is $40.

However, Microsoft has not disclosed any information about the cost of purchasing the full version of Win10 separately and the upgrade fee after one year. These news are expected to be announced at the WPC conference in July this year.
