New Win9 Concept Design: Start Menu Regression

Computer Store News: Windows 9 is expected to bring many new changes, including a new start menu, which can make the whole system more familiar, easy for beginners and experienced users.

As of now, Microsoft is still tight-lipped about Win9, but Microsoft will release some information on Win9 at the BUILD2014 Developer Conference next week. The system is expected to be released in April 2015.

DeviantArt user Lodmot presented his own Win9 concept design based on previous guesses.

As shown in the figure, this Win9 design uses its own start menu, which obviously enhances the user-friendliness of the entire working environment, and is expected to attract many beginners who are looking for Microsoft's traditional Windows interface.

This new start menu provides quick access to recently used apps, as well as a collection of modern applications including Skype and Weather. Dynamic tiles can also be launched to show the current weather status and recent contacts on Skype. Power options are also integrated into the Start menu, and search options provide quick access to online and local information.
