Microsoft OEM charging standard introduced - PC price 5%

  

Microsoft Windows system to OEM fees have been released recently, Microsoft Strategy Director Charles Songhurst told the outside world: Microsoft charges Windows licensing fees about 5% of the price of each machine. In other words, for a $1,000 PC, Microsoft will charge Windows $50 for usage.

For the current price system in the US market, PCs are generally priced between $300 and $3,000, and 5% are priced between $15 and $150. In the Chinese market, especially in the notebook field, the price is basically between 2,000 and 8,000 yuan. According to the 5% standard, Microsoft will charge 100 to 400 yuan.

In June of this year, there were rumors that the OEM version of the Windows 7 Starter entry version was between $45 and $55. As early as May 2005, PC makers said that they were each Windows XP Starter pays between $15 and $35.
