XP, Vista and Vista SP1 three major system comparison test

Microsoft has released the RC preview version of the Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP1 two system upgrade packages, the latter especially got the focus of Microsoft, after all, Microsoft does not want XP SP3 attracts too many users to stay in the old system, further slowing down the popularity of the new system.
About the performance comparison between Vista RTM and Vista SP1, there have been some zero-star tests before, and Gizmodo.com's recent tests are relatively comprehensive, involving system performance, multimedia performance, processor performance, network performance and disk. Performance and many other aspects.

The test machine is an HP xw8600 workstation computer with a fairly high configuration: two Intel 45nm Xeon X5460 3.16GHz quad-core processors, NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600 professional graphics card, 15000RPM SAS hard drive, 4GB RAM. The tests on XP SP3, Vista RTM, and Vista SP1 are all performed on the system. The results are summarized as follows:

It can be seen that the problem of who is faster and slower in the three systems is that there is no definite answer. The difference is quite large. First of all, in the PCMark05 comprehensive test, Vista scored 15.28% higher than XP SP2, and Vista SP1 increased slightly by 0.87% compared with Vista RTM.
Premiere MPEG Video Compression Test: Both Vista and Vista SP1 took 1 minute and 8 seconds, while XP SP took 2 seconds, and the gap was negligible.
Maxon Cinebench R10 test: Vista is 0.46% higher than XP SP2, but Vista SP1 is 3 points less than Vista. Although it can be counted as error range, it can be seen that Vista SP1 does not have this aspect. Improvements; at the same time, XP SP2 has an efficiency of 5.7 for eight cores, while both Vista and Vista SP1 have reached 5.76.
The next hundred megabytes of LAN file copy test is surprising. The test uses a 1.37GB folder with 2606 files of different sizes. As a result, XP SP2 completed the remote transmission in only 3 minutes and 37 seconds, while Vista took 12 minutes and 58 seconds, and Vista SP1 gave an "amazing" score of 15 minutes and 41 seconds.
As we all know, Windows Vista's file copying and moving functions are really unstoppable to users. The slow "calculating the remaining time" makes many people crazy, and in the network aspect, Vista has added the "remote differential compression" function, but The result is counterproductive. Everyone is expecting Vista SP1 to improve in this regard, Microsoft has also released some upgrade patches, SP1 test version also shows a certain effect, but the results of this test is really unexpected.
The final disk performance test also makes Vista lose face: XP SP2 read and write speeds are around 120MB /s, while Vista is only 83MB /s, 61MB /s, Vista SP1 is only 80MB /s and 53MB /s. These numbers are basically consistent with the above-mentioned network file copy test results. I don't know if Vista has a problem with the use of high-speed SAS hard disks.
Seeing here we can't help but think of a set of test messages released by Microsoft, claiming that Windows Server 2008 RC0's network file transfer speed is 43-44 times faster than Windows Server 2003. If this is the case, Vista really needs to learn from Server 2008.
