Vista's 5th Anniversary is still the third largest operating system in the world

  

Microsoft Windows Vista operating system has recently celebrated its 5th birthday. After the 5th anniversary, Vista is still the world's third largest operating system, second only to Win7 and XP.

* On July 22, 2005, Microsoft announced Windows Vista as the name of the new operating system (formerly known as "Windows Longhorn").

* November 2, 2006 Vista completes the RTM release for OEM and enterprise users.

* On January 30, 2007, Vista was officially sold to regular users. It was almost six years apart from the previous version of the XP system (released in October 2001), the oldest release in Windows history.

On April 10, 2012, Microsoft will discontinue mainstream support for Windows Vista; by April 17, 2017, Microsoft will terminate all of its technical support.

The number of Vista users:

According to the first quarter of 2012 released by market research firm StatCounter, Vista has a market share of 10.5%, and Windows XP market share is still as high as 35%. 7 has also reached 44%.
