Turn off the "block some startup programs" message

Many times, in order to save system resources and ensure system performance, we often need to adjust the program or load that is automatically run when Vista starts by using the system configuration tool such as MsConfig. The service avoids those programs that are not meaningful or unnecessary from taking up too much system resources.

Generally speaking, when we make this kind of setting, restart Windows Vista, it will be similar to the following message in the system status bar. Of course, this is no abnormality, so is the same under Windows XP. The adjustment of the startup item, giving a prompt message to remind the user to notice the corresponding modification, to avoid such modification as a misoperation or illegal operation of others, is a very reasonable design. ——Although look carefully, the prompt “When Windows starts, Windows blocks programs that require permission to run” is a bit weird. It is obviously not related to permissions. We actively prohibit it from running.

However, in Windows Vista, you will find even more weird things: such prompts will appear again after each reboot, and the system will run again every other time. Reminder, very annoying.

In fact, the problem is that when we disable some programs to automatically run with the startup through MsConfig, although the corresponding changes have been saved and applied by MsConfig, in fact, the system modification prompt information provided by MsConfig is never available. Displayed: MsConfig shows the system prompt window needs to be elevated, but this is not allowed by Windows Vista UAC (User Account Control), that is, what we see in the system status bar is UAC disable MsConfig The prompt message given by the prompt window. Because of this, because MsConfig does not actually display the corresponding prompt information, it will continue to retry every time the system is restarted and running, resulting in the phenomenon we observed above.

This is a small bug when working with different components of Windows Vista. To solve this problem, it is also very simple to avoid the way Windows Vista repeatedly prompts the system startup program to disable information.

1. Click the "Blocked Launcher" icon in the status bar and select "Run Blocked Level" in the pop-up menu => "System Configuration Utility";

2. As you can see from the shield icon in front of the System Configuration Utility, this is an action that triggers UAC. Click Continue in the Permission Confirmation window or enter the administrator password. - This is also the root of this problem.

3. Next you can see the "real" system startup program modification prompts. Of course, you can also select "Do not show this message again" in this window.
