Retrieving the IE7 icon for the Windows Vista desktop

Open the Registry Editor: This can be done by typing "regedit.exe" in the search box of the Start menu or by pressing the Win key +R at the same time. Enter "regedit.exe" in the run box.

If UAC is not closed, Windows Vista will pop up a prompt window when you run the Registry Editor, click OK.

Locate the following registry branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion \\Explorer \\HideDesktopIcons \\NewStartPanel

Note: When Windows Vista uses classic themes, Then it should be:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion \\Explorer \\HideDesktopIcons \\ClassicStartMenu

If the corresponding branch does not exist, create it;

Create a name DWORD (32-bit) registry entry for {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}";

Set its value to "0";

After refreshing the desktop, you can see The disappearing IE7 icon reappears, right click to see the relevant Internet browsing settings.
