Let XP speed up and start a few tips

A computer and its related external devices are available, its hardware entity is fixed, this time only the software program can be operated, this article from the hardware and software, software program security With a certain risk, from the simple and relatively complex aspects of how to speed up the boot time of XP, make a summary, so that novice rookie can also operate him easily and safely.
First, the hardware factors affecting the startup speed
The main hardware that affects the computer startup speed is the motherboard and hard disk and memory, but has little to do with the CPU.
The motherboard is a kind of computer accessories "base", there are a lot of work to do at boot, such as self-test, search for various ports, a variety of external devices. Therefore, reducing the self-test time, reducing external equipment, and improving efficiency can increase the startup speed. If the computer is connected to a peripheral such as a scanner or a USB hard disk, it may slow down the system. It is recommended that you connect these peripherals when you need them. USB devices can be connected after booting.
The main factor determining the performance of the motherboard is the motherboard chipset. The main factor determining the boot speed is the disk performance and driver performance of the motherboard chipset.
In addition to the power-on self-test, the computer startup time is mainly used to read system files from the hard disk. The hard disk works by reading and writing data on a high-speed rotating disk by moving the magnetic head. Then the higher the disk speed, the more data the head reads per unit time, which is very beneficial for system startup. In addition, hard drives with fast seek times and large caches can also significantly increase boot time.
Reducing the boot disk scan wait time. When the Windows log records an abnormal shutdown or a crash caused by a crash, the system will automatically run the disk scan program at boot time. By default, it will wait 10 seconds before scanning each partition. If each partition has to wait 10 seconds to start scanning, plus the time required for scanning itself, it will take a long time to complete the boot process. . In this case we can set the wait time for canceling the disk scan and even for scanning a disk partition.
Start → Run, enter “chkntfs /t:0”, you can set the disk scan wait time to 0; if you want to ignore scanning a partition when the computer starts, such as C drive, you can enter “chkntfs The /xc:” command; if you want to resume scanning the C drive, you can use the “chkntfs /dc:” command to restore all chkntfs default settings, in addition to the countdown to automatic file check.
A hardware that has a major impact on Windows XP is memory. Running Windows XP with 256MB of RAM is smoother, and 512MB of memory allows the system to run very well.
Second, through the desktop or control panel for related settings (safe)
1) remove the gorgeous and bloated appearance
remove "wallpaper", "and screen protection", delete redundant desktop icons. If it is WinXP, you can also right click on "My Computer", select "Properties & Rarr; Advanced", click on "Settings" in the "Performance" option, select "Adjust to Best Performance" & rdquo ;
2) Regularly maintain the system
If you install and delete too many games, too many applications, and too many old materials in the system, your computer will run slower and slower. Time is getting longer and longer. Therefore, it is best to do a comprehensive maintenance of the computer at regular intervals (usually 1-3 months). Click "Start"→"Programs"→"Accessories"→"System Tools", use the disk cleaning and defragmentation inside to do a comprehensive maintenance on the computer, pay attention to defragmenting the disk The disk where the system is located must be sorted in order to really speed up the Windows boot sequence.
3) Reduce the pre-launch time
(1) Open "System Properties" (right click on my computer - Properties, or open in the Control Panel “ System & rdquo;, shortcut key win + Pause break) Click the "Advanced" tab, and in the "Startup and Recovery" area, open “Set", remove the “system startup” two √, if it is multi-system The user keeps “<;displays the list of operating system times” √, which is set to 5 in it.
(2) If you do not want the startup scroll bar to appear, you can click the “Edit” button in the previous step to open the “System Startup” area edit, and add /noguiboot to the fastdetect in the boot notebook. So that the scroll bar will no longer be displayed at startup. If you really like the display of this scroll bar, you don't have to do this step.
4)Expanding virtual memory capacity
If your hard drive is large enough, please open "system" in "Control Panel" and open "Virtual in "Performance" Memory ", select the second item: the user sets the virtual memory setting, points to a less-used hard disk, and sets the maximum and minimum values to a fixed value, about twice the size of physical memory. In this way, when the virtual memory uses the hard disk, it does not need to accommodate the difference between the big and the small, and the fixed space is used as the virtual memory to speed up the access speed. The setting of virtual memory is best done after "disk defragmentation", so that virtual memory is not in a continuous, non-fragmented file space, which can work better.
5) Remove the boot logo of windows.
Click “Start”→“Control Panel”→“Folder Options>, from the “View” tab“Advanced Settings“Checkbox in the list box“ All files & rdquo;. Then open the c drive, find the msdos.sys file, and cancel its "read-only" attribute, open it, under the "option" paragraph, add a line statement: logo=0, so the windows boot pattern Will not be loaded to run.
You can also click - Start - Run: type msconfig, then find boot.ini and check /bootlog inside.
6) Too many desktop icons can cause trouble.
There are too many icons on the desktop to slow down the system startup. Every time Windows starts and displays the desktop, you need to find the icons of the desktop shortcuts one by one and load them. The more icons, the more time it takes. It is recommended that you put the less commonly used desktop icons in a special folder or simply delete them.
(Small Tips): Some anti-virus software provides system startup scanning function, which will take a lot of time. In fact, if you have already turned on the real-time monitoring function of anti-virus software, then the scanning system is superfluous at startup. Still disable this feature.
7) File and printer sharing
Some computers with Windows XP Professional will also have a very slow startup problem. This is because the Mrxsmb.dll file is started for the computer after using the Bootvis.exe program. Added the reason for the time.
To solve this problem, just stop sharing folders and printers: select “Start →Set →Network and Dial-up Connections, right-click "Local Connections", select "Properties", In the window that opens, cancel the checkbox in front of the "Select files and printer sharing for Microsoft network" under this selected component.
8) Remove the extra self-starting program
Start → Run, enter “msconfig”, then click “OK", will bring up the "System Configuration Utility" dialog box, select which The "Start" tab, which lists the items and sources loaded at system startup, and carefully checks whether each item needs to be loaded automatically. Otherwise, the check box before the item is cleared, and the fewer items are loaded. The faster you start.
