Method for accessibility of each host in the LAN (1)

The topic of not being able to visit each other in the LAN has always been very concerned about the network management. Recently, users have asked quite a few similar questions, mainly because Windows 98 cannot access Windows XP, or Windows 2000 or Windows XP cannot access Windows XP. An overview of the solutions to these mutual access failures is provided.

Question 1: How to use the hardware exclusion method

Use the ping command to see the NIC light method to verify whether it is hardware or software.

Check the NIC light first. If one is not bright, there is a problem with the NIC. If only the NIC's semaphore is not lit, click “Start → Run” and enter “ping the other party IP -t” (actual input without quotes), if there are four consecutive “Request time out” in the prompt (request pause//timeout) ), indicating that the physical line is unreachable or the network is too busy causing blocking. You can further check the network cable and the net head with a line gauge, and troubleshoot one by one.

Question 2: What to do if there is a lack of agreement

Protocols required for LAN intercommunication: TCP/IP (IPX/SPX, Novell network and some online games need to set this protocol if necessary) NetBIOS.

1.NetBIOS Protocol

WindowsXP does not support NetBIOS protocol by default, but many small networks now use this protocol. The method of adding is as follows:

(1) Copy the nbf.sys file in the Valueadd\\MSFT\\Net\ etbeui directory of the Windows XP installation CD to the system32\\Drivers directory of the system;

(2) Copy netnbf.inf to the system's lnf directory, and then operate as usual to add a protocol (in the network neighborhood has the option to add a corresponding protocol, add the Windows installation disk directly in the CD-ROM drive can also be).

2.NetBEUI Protocol

This communication protocol is a product of the Windows 95/98 era. There is no such protocol in Windows XP (but the NetBEUI related files are still on the Windows XP CD), some LANs You must have NetBEUI to access some or all of the computer data on your network, so you need to install NetBEUI. Here's how:

Put the Windows XP installation CD, copy Netnbf.inf to C:\\Windows\\INF in the "Valueadd\\Msft\\Net\\Netbeui" directory; copy Nbf.sys to C: \\Windows\\System32\\Drivers; click "Start → Control Panel → Network Neighborhood", select "Network Connection", right click on "LAN Connection", select the content; in the "General" item, click “Install→Communication Protocol→Add”, you can see “NetBEUI Protocol” at this time. After selecting NetBEUI, press OK.
