How to customize the paper type

in Windows XP

In the Windows 98 operating system, there is a “custom” in the paper selection in the printer properties, which is more intuitive and can easily customize the printer paper size; The location of "custom" in XP is different from Windows 98, which is difficult for unfamiliar users to find. Here's how to customize the paper size in Windows XP.

Creating a new format

Below we use an example to illustrate the specific process of customizing paper in Windows XP. For example, to define a custom paper size for accounting documents, the width is 26cm and the height is 13cm. The steps are as follows:

Step 1 Click "Start” “Control Panel” “Printers and Faxes Machine”.

Step 2 In the “Files” menu, click on “Server Properties”.

Step 3 Select “Create New Format", and give a name for your newly defined paper in “Form Name", such as "Voucher". Then, type “26” and “13” in "Width", "height". “Printer area margins  can be customized as needed. Finally, click the “Save Format" button (Figure 1).

Precautions

Item 1 You can only create a custom paper size for the default printer. When there are multiple printers in the system, a custom paper size is created for the default printer even if a different printer than the default is selected.

The second printer is limited to its mechanical structure, such as paper feeding system, paper sensing system, etc., and has its own basic requirements for paper size, so not all paper sizes can be supported. . Some users want to print papers with a width of 10cm or less, such as a 7cm wide card nameplate. After customizing the paper, they find that there is no paper type in the printer's properties. This is because the minimum paper width allowed by many printers is 10cm, which is less than This wide paper does not support user settings because the printer cannot guarantee smooth paper feed and correct paper feed.

Item 3 The above description is based on the Windows XP system, and is also fully applicable to the Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 operating systems.
