Windows XP creates a personalized system folder icon free to change

Have you ever thought about using your favorite picture as an icon for a folder? As shown in Figure 1, I chose the emblem of the Beijing Olympics as an icon for the folder. How is it, is the heart moving? Next, let me work with me to create a folder with your own personality.

Figure 1

First, prepare a nice icon. Icons can be made by yourself, don't make or have no related software, don't worry, there are a lot of online, and there are a lot of icons in windows, you can choose one of your favorite icons.

Next, create a new folder, for example: c:abc. Copy the icon file to this folder. Suppose the icon file is named tu.ico.

Open Notepad and enter the following text:

[.ShellClassInfo]

InfoTip=This is the czl folder, which cannot be opened without my permission.

IconFile=tu.ico

Then save the file, save the location as c:abc (that is, just created a new folder), the file name is desktop.ini (Note: file name and extension Can't go wrong).

Ok, the last step is to change the properties of the folder abc to system properties. How to change it? The method is as follows: Start MS-DOS mode, enter: attrib c:abc +s, press Enter. Exit MS-DOS mode. If your system is windows 98, then you can modify it, run "winfile", enter the c drive, select the abc folder, select "file-attribute(T)...", pop-up properties dialog, select "System" Properties, click OK.

Now let's take a look at this folder again, how is it, hasn't changed? refresh. Is the icon of this folder changed?

Description: The content behind (1)"InfoTip=" is a description of the contents of the folder. When we set the web page view in the parent folder and select this folder, the content after "=" will be displayed.

(2)"IconFile=" The content behind is the path and name of the icon file. When the icon file is not in the current folder, the path to the icon is written.

(3) We can also choose the icon of a program (or .dll file) as the folder icon. In this case, just add one in the desktop.ini file:

IconIndex=0

The number "0" indicates the first icon of the program (or .dll file), "1" indicates the second icon of the program (or .dll file), and so on. When this is the default, its value defaults to 0. (How do I know the serial number of the program icon? Here is a simple method, right-click the shortcut of the program, select "Properties", in the "Properties" dialog box, click "Change icon …", in the pop-up dialog box's option "current icon", all the icons of the program are listed. From the first column, the value of IconIndex is 0, 1, 2 from top to bottom respectively. 3, and so on.) As shown in Figure 2, the icons of the twelve folders from a0 to a11 are the icons of the Flash program, and the values of IconIndex are 0 to 11.

Figure 2

Now, you can have your own folder icon. What if I want to recover it? Some people say that you can delete desktop.ini. Give it a try, OK? No, no. In fact, we just need to remove the "system" attribute from the folder. To remove the folder's "system" property, follow the above method. Here is an easier way to right-click on the folder and select "property" to bring up the "property" dialog box. Check "Enable thumbnail view mode", click "OK", then the "system" attribute is removed. Similarly, if we want to change the icon of the folder, just change the value of IconFile can not be changed, you should also change the name of the folder.

According to this method, we can also encrypt some important folders. You can just modify it in the "desktop.ini" file: delete "InfoTip=" and its contents; type a non-existent file name after "IconFile=" or type .exe,. Files other than files such as ico and .dll. Now look at the folder icon, is it in the form of a windows icon (Figure 3). Add this folder to the "extension" and put it in the windows folder. Does anyone know that this "opening method" "file" is a folder?
