DOS can also be started by XP

After installing Windows XP/2000 or higher, you can only use floppy disk, USB flash drive, CD, etc. to boot into pure DOS mode. I did not expect the author to find a tool that can modify the Windows 2000/XP boot menu on the Internet. With it, you can choose to enter the pure DOS mode at startup. Good Dongdong did not dare to use it alone, and shared it.

How to use

After installation, if you have If you are interested, you can check the Boot.ini (the default location is c:\\) file in the system. Has been changed to the following:

[boot loader]

timeout=6

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2 )\\WINDOWS

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute= OptIn

C:\\WINDOWS\\arboot\\dos\\ar.BIN="dwarf studio pure DOS mode"

C:\\WINDOWS\\arboot\\di\\dos.BIN=" Dwarf Studio Backup Recovery"

What is the effect of this change?

The startup menu is generated at startup and two items are added to the original startup menu:

One is "dwarf studio pure DOS mode"

The second is "dwarf studio backup recovery"

Of course, the default boot option is the original Windows XP Or Windows 2000, etc., the default waiting time is 6 seconds. In other words, if you do not make any choices when the boot menu appears, the computer will automatically boot to Windows XP or Windows 2000 after 6 seconds. If you want to boot to pure DOS mode, you can use the cursor movement keys on the keyboard to select the previous one. The two new ones.

1.“Dwarf Studio Pure DOS Mode

After selecting this, the next level of options menu will appear, with 5 options:

1MINI Startup , minimize startup. Can be partition management, such as formatting, etc., speed is very fast.

2 Load the MINI boot of the optical drive.

3 loading cache startup, support for optical drive.

4 loading cache startup, support for the mouse, can view the contents of the NTFS partition.

5 Same as above, plus Chinese support, as well as Chinese and Chinese input methods under pure DOS.

No matter which one you choose, there are common DOS commands that the author has carefully selected, including partition management and hard disk repair. If you choose the last item, you can also start the CCDOS and pure DOS Chinese program:

Press Ctrl+F1, Ctrl+F3, Ctrl+F4, Ctrl+F6 to switch various Chinese input methods, English Input.

Press Ctrl+F5 and select Digital Health 1 to completely exit CCDOS and Chinese programs. After exiting, enter the command hh to reload.

Press Ctrl+~ to switch between full-screen Chinese, intelligent Chinese, and non-Chinese.

Don't underestimate this small program, the Chinese effect is very good, exactly the same as the Orient Express. According to the author's observation, it calls the DOS Chineseization module of the Orient Express 2000. How can the effect not be used by the author?

2.“Dwarf Studio Backup Recovery&

It uses the Chinese version of PQDI 4.0, which is better than the famous Ghost. It is pure & ldquo; fool” . PQDI's wizard mode lets you see it at a glance. More importantly, the software author can modify the page files and hibernation files of Windows XP and Windows 2000 before you back up. The two files also have a minimum of 500M. The specific size is related to your physical memory size. For 2.5 times the physical memory, the backups you make are fast and small.

Note: If you select the two options mentioned in this article at startup, your partition drive letter will change, mainly in the following aspects:

An image file with many useful DOS commands.

The partitioning rules for hard disks are: for example, if you have a FAT32 partition on your hard disk and an NTFS partition, the front is the FAT32 partition, which starts from C and backwards. Then there is the virtual disk simulated by the memory (the function is similar to the Windows 98 boot floppy disk, mainly used to store useful related commands), CD-ROM drive. The last is the NTFS format partition. I think, only friends who know some DOS commands will be interested in this software. Try to input the drive letter and jump to each partition and then Dir understands everything.

3. Tips for use

Estimated software author is to take care of friends who are not familiar with DOS, the backup tool used is PQDI 4.0 Chinese version, due to version restrictions, its support for NTFS partition is not Very ideal, mainly in the ability to write NTFS partitions. In other words, only the system partition (which can be NTFS) can be backed up to the FAT32 partition. The prerequisite for using it is that you have a FAT32 partition in addition to the system disk in your computer. Otherwise, the backup will not succeed, but this has the effect of "normal use of the dwarf studio pure DOS mode".

In fact, many of my friends' computers have only NTFS partitions. How can I break this limitation?

After the software is installed, it will be in C:\\WINDOWS\\arboot\\di (arboot has Hidden properties) A file named Dos.img is generated in the directory. It is essentially a floppy image file. All the files needed to run PQDI are in it. Just replace it with a higher version of PQDI.

1 Open the Dos.img file under C:\\WINDOWS\\arboot\\di with UltraISO and extract it all to any new directory on the hard disk.

2 Enter the extracted folder and delete all the files whose primary file name is PQDI (a total of five).

3 Copy the files under PQDI 5.0.

4 Use UltraISO to make the replaced file into an IMG file. The file name must be Dos.img, and replace it with the original file under C:\\WINDOWS\\arboot\\di.
