Editor's note: This article is divided into three parts, before, during, and after, detailed introduction to the installation process of Windows XP.

Before installing Windows XP, you need to make some related settings, such as: BIOS boot item adjustment, hard disk partition adjustment and formatting. The so-called "grinding knife does not mistake the chopping power", correct and appropriate adjustment of these settings will lay a good foundation for the smooth installation of the system, and even the convenient use of the system in the future.

Step 1: BIOS startup item adjustment

Before installing the system, you first need to set the CD-ROM drive as the first startup item in the BIOS. The method of entering the BIOS varies with different BIOS. Generally speaking, after pressing the self-test, press the Del key or the F2 key. After entering the BIOS, find the "Boot" project, and then set the first startup item in the list to "CD-ROM" (PConline Note: CD-ROM means CD-ROM drive). (As shown in Figure 1). Tip:

    Step 2: Select the system installation partition

In terms of compatibility, FAT32 is slightly better than NTFS; in terms of security and performance, NTFS is much better than FAT32.
