Windows XP file association repair editor tool

When the Microsoft Windows system was first installed, the installation created a large number of file extension associations, which means permanent.

For example, the .msi extension (which is commonly used in Microsoft installation file formats) does not mean to be changed or reassigned.

There are many such extensions here that mean they stay the same (except for a few exceptions, such as multimedia files or .zip files). If these extensions are changed or corrupted, some of the system's own basic functions will stop working.

Sometimes this happens unexpectedly. For example, if a user installs a problematic write application or some malware on his system, and because these connections are installed, they are "hardwired" into the system. If the system is not completely reinstalled, it is difficult to repair the basis of the system.

Fortunately, Doug Knox and his colleague Nigel Andrews have developed a tool to solve the problem by creating an editor for any possible kernel file organization on a Windows system. Error correction, including repairing search directories, IE desktop icons, shortcuts, URLs, and other sections that cannot be easily fixed.

Each association is packaged into a .REG file and stored in a .zip file. To fix the functionality of any given extension file, simply download it and add the .REG file to the registry, remembering: if the .zip function on your computer is corrupted In that case, you must first find a good .zip association because it is not archived and cannot be used as a REG file to install directly.

Other program traps (gotchas) may appear. Give the following example: If your .exe file association somehow becomes unusable, you will need to enable the Registry Editor from the Task Manager and manually merge the .exe before you can do anything else. Association. Although there is no way to merge all of them all at once, it is easy to put all the .REG files into one large file and go to the file header of each file.
