"Update Now" but not updated

Problem: When logging in to the "Windows Update" web page and clicking "Update Now" to update the operating system immediately, the browser always displays the same web page without performing an update operation.

Solution: According to the author's experience and the results of the Microsoft official website, this is a difficult problem. So far there is no perfect solution. However, we can try the following methods:
< BR> Method 1: Close IE, open "Explorer" and find "system32\\dllcache" and "system32" Folder, find and delete the two files "IUCtl.dll" and "IUEngine.dll". Users can also directly enter the file names of the above two files in "Search" to find and find the two files. Delete. Run regedit, open the "Registry Editor" and find the following:

HKLM\\Software\\microsoft\\windows\\currentversion\\Windowsupdate\\IUcontrol key

Delete the "SelfupdateStatus" key.

Method 2: Download and install the latest "Windows Update" upgrade software.

Method 3: Open IE, select "Tools - Internet Options", in the "General" page, delete all CookIEs, Temporary Internet Files and Offline Content. Finally, click on the "Clear History" button to clear the history file for the Internet. Close all open pages and try the update again.

There are currently no updates available.

Question: After entering the Windows Update update site, click on the "View for Updates" hyperlink, the page displays "No update available currently", and The left side of the page is grayed out. Check the "Update.log" file and find that it did not report any errors.

Solution: The above problem may be caused by the key value setting of the relevant operating system in the registry. Incorrect, modify the relevant key values in the registry.

Open the Registry Editor and find the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\Software\\ Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion

In the "CurrentVersion" item, find the "VersionNumber" button. Modify its value. Different operating systems have different values, please refer to the following values:

Windows 98 value is 4.10.1998

Problem: The system can successfully scan the update file, but when downloading and installing the file, a warning message appears:

0x800A138F

Solution: There are many reasons for the above warning message, and the solution is different.

Method 1: Adjust the system time and date. If the user's time and date are incorrect, they will not be able to log in.

Method 2: Open the Explorer, find and delete the following folder:

c:\\program files\\Windowsupdate

c:\\windows\\system32\\Windowsupdate

Method 3: Delete temporary Internet files.

Method 4: Delete the Windows Update file. Delete all files and folders except "V4" in the "Program Files\\Windows Update" folder. Then, open the "V4" folder and delete all files except the "iuhist.XML" file. If you have the "WUTEMP" folder, delete all the files in it.

Run "regsvr32 /u C:\\WINNT\\System32\\IUCTL.dll" and log out "IUCTL.dll" from the registry.

Finally, click on "Start", "Search" and enter "IUCTL.dll" (without the quotation marks) in the text box and delete the found file. Then type "IUEngine.dll" in the text box to delete the found file.

Restart your computer, log in to the "Windows Update" website, and perform the update operation.

Method 5: Change the security settings. Run IE, open "Tools - Internet Options - Security" on the menu bar, select "Trusted Sites" under "Please specify security settings for Web content in different areas", and click "Under security level for this area" Default level" (the default level should be set to "Low"); click the "Site" button. First select the "Require server verification for all sites in the zone", then enter the following URL in the text box under "Add this site to the zone", click "Add" after input:
< BR> http://Windowsupdate.microsoft.com

http://V4.Windowsupdate.microsoft.com

http ://Download.Windowsupdate.com
*.akamai.Net

Also, under "Please specify security settings for web content in different areas" in the "Security" window, select "Restricted" Site" and click on "Site" to ensure that the above URL is not restricted.

In addition to this, we have to set up options for secure web pages. Run IE, open "Tools", "Internet Options", "Content" on the menu bar, and click "Clear SSL Status" button under "Certificate" to clear the SLL cache. Click "AutoComplete" button under "Personal Information", click the "Clear Form" and "Clear Password" buttons, and click "OK" in the "Window" that pops up. Then, close all the web pages and try running IE again.

Method 6: Some anti-spyware, anti-advertising programs may modify the user's HOSTS file to maximize the security of the user's Internet; however, because the Windows Update website is now in the "Akamai" server, and this It is also the URL of the above system protection program trying to prevent users from accessing, so that the user system using the above program naturally cannot successfully access Microsoft's official website.

Find the "HOSTS" file and open it with Notepad to view its contents. The location of this file is:

c:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM32\\DRIVERS\\etc (Windows XP/2003)

C:\\WINNT\\SYSTEM32\\DRIVERS\\etc (Windows 2000)

C:\\Windows\\Hosts (Win95/98/ME)

Open the file, find all lines with "Akamai" characters, delete the entire line or type "# at the beginning of the line" ", save the file and exit Notepad.

For Windows 2000/XP/2003, we may also help resolve this issue by clearing the DNS cache. Method: Click "Start", "Run", enter "cmd", then enter "ipconfig /flushdns" at the command prompt, press Enter to confirm.
