Effectively reduce the fat for the Win XP system

        1. Delete unnecessary files in the system (1) Delete system file backup In the "system32\\dllcache" directory of the system file, there are nearly 250MB files, which are backups of Windows? XP system files. When the Windows XP system files are replaced, deleted or modified, Windows XP can automatically extract the corresponding system file restores to ensure the stability of the system. This folder cannot be deleted directly, but you can clear it by typing the Sfc.exe /purgecache command at the command prompt.
(2) Delete the driver backup
Delete the Driver.cab file in the "driver cache\\i386" directory of the Windows XP system directory, which holds the backup of the hardware driver, which is generally unnecessary. Even if you need to install new hardware, you can insert the Windows XP installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
(3) Delete the useless input method
Save the input method related files in the "Windows\\ime\\" folder. The traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean input methods are useless to most of us. We can delete the three directories "chtime", "imjp8_1", "imkr6_1", which are traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean input methods, so that we can save 80MB of hard disk space.
(4) Delete help files
The help of the initial system of Windows XP is very useful, but as the system becomes more and more familiar, the help files are more and more redundant. Remove it. XP help files are stored in the Help folder under the system installation directory, you can delete all the files and directories under it.
2, reduce the hard disk space occupied by the system
(1) turn off the system restore
System Restore can return the computer to an earlier time (called restore point) without losing our recent work, but After a long time, it takes up a lot of hard disk space. Therefore, it is necessary to manually set it to reduce the amount of hard disk usage.
Open the System Properties dialog box, select the System Restore tab in the dialog box, and select the Turn off system restore on all drives check box to turn off System Restore. If you do not turn off System Restore, you can set up a restore only for the disk or partition on which the system resides. First select the partition where the system is located, click the "Configure" button, in the pop-up dialog box, cancel the "Close the system restore of this drive" option, and set the amount of disk space for system restore.
(2) Turn off hibernation support
Hibernate function will take up a lot of hard disk space, if you use less, you can close it, the method of closing is: open the "Control Panel", double-click "Power Options", in In the Power Options Properties dialog box that pops up, select the Hibernate tab and deselect the Enable Hibernate check box.
(3) reduce or disable virtual memory
When the system's physical memory is relatively large, you can consider reducing the value of virtual memory or even cancel virtual memory, when you have 512MB of physical memory, you can set virtual memory as physical memory Half of it, 256MB, can cancel virtual memory if it has 1GB of physical memory.
For the method of setting virtual memory, see “Properly setting page virtual memory” above.
3, clear temporary files
(1) clear system temporary files
system temporary files are generally stored in two locations: a Temp folder in the Windows installation directory; the other is X: \\ Documents And Settings\\"Username"\\Local Settings\\Temp folder (X: is the partition where the system is located). Files in both locations can be deleted directly.
(2) Clear temporary Internet files
A long time will cause a large number of temporary Internet files, and regular deletion will save a lot of hard disk space.
Open IE browser, select "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu, select the "General" tab in the pop-up dialog box, click the "Delete Files" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" column, and In the "Delete Files" dialog box that pops up, select the "Delete all offline content" check box and click the "OK" button.
You can also set the disk occupied by temporary Internet files to an acceptable range, click the "Settings" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" column, and then set the temporary files in the "Settings" dialog box. Disk space, you can also move the folder of temporary Internet files to another partition to reduce the disk footprint of the system partition.
4, file compression in NTFS partition
Windows XP provides file compression properties for NTFS partition files, which can effectively save disk space.
In the NTFS partition, select the file or folder to be compressed, right-click, select the "Properties" command in the shortcut menu, and then click "Advanced" in the "General" tab of the "Properties" dialog box " button, in the "Compress or Encryption Properties" column in the new dialog box, select the "Compress content to save disk space" check box, after "OK" you will find that the disk space occupied by the file is greatly reduced.
5, clear Windows XP shared folder
"shared folder", this folder is useful when we use the workgroup, you can directly put the files to be shared into this shared folder without any settings It's all right, but in practice, many people don't need this feature. We can disable this feature by modifying the registry to save disk space.
Open the registry editor and find: "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\ CurrentVersion \\Explorer\\My Computer\\NameSpace\\DelegateFolders subkey", delete this key value. It is best to make a backup before deleting, or write down this value so that you can restore it instantly when needed.
