Up to six ways to speed up Win XP startup speed

With the development of the Windows operating system, the functions are getting stronger and stronger, the operation is getting simpler and simpler, but the startup speed of the system is getting slower and slower. Take the current most popular Windows XP, it is not flattering, so many friends try various ways to reduce the startup time, use various optimization techniques or software to speed up the startup process. Today, I combine long-term experience with a few practical tips to help you accelerate the launch of the Windows XP system.

1. Disable the idle IDE channel

Acceleration principle: Since the Windows XP system automatically detects the IDE device on the computer during startup, it closes the detection of the idle IDE channel and accelerates The system starts. However, the error statement that is circulating on the network needs to be corrected: Many people think that it is enough to disable the idle IDE channel in the BIOS, and others suggest that it be closed at the same time in BiOS and the system. First of all, the first method is simply ineffective, because the XP operating system can bypass the motherboard's BiOS to independently monitor the various states of the computer hardware; the latter approach seems to be more than one. Therefore, it can only be turned off in Windows XP system to truly achieve the effect of disabling the idle IDE channel.

[Practice as follows]: Right click on "My Computer - Properties", then click on "Hardware" and then click on "Device Manager" to open "IDE ATA/PATA Controller" (different chips are slightly Difference), then enter the primary and secondary IDE channels separately, as shown in the figure: Select "Advanced Settings", here find the "current transfer mode" is "not applicable" (this is the corresponding IDE channel), Set the "Device Type" of this item to "None" and confirm.

2. Manually setting the IP address
Acceleration principle: Windows XP system is developed on the basis of Windows 2000, so it supports rich network functions. In this case, the Windows XP system will automatically detect whether the computer is connected to the LAN after booting, but the general users are all connected to the Internet, and basically set the IP address automatically in the network connection. In this case, the system searches for a DHCP server in order to assign an IP address to the machine, but the general user does not configure it at all. This causes the system to take a long time to search the DHCP server until it gets an IP address or the service timeout will stop after each boot. During this period, even if it comes to the desktop, the double-click program does not reflect anything. This is also the problem that many Windows XP users report "dead" after entering the desktop for 10 seconds! In fact, as long as the IP address is manually assigned to the "local connection", this problem can be easily solved, avoiding the automatic network detection of Windows XP every time, thus speeding up the startup!
[Practice as follows]: Right click on "My Network Places" - select properties, right click on the "Local Area Connection" - select properties, double click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", select "Use the following IP" Address" then enter an IP address (for example: 192.168.0.1), the subnet mask can be used by default. (This will not cause any conflict with your Internet. This address is only used in the LAN.) If the system searches again, it will quickly find the IP and quickly enter the system.
3. Disabling temporarily unused devices
Acceleration principle: Now computer peripherals are cheaper, many people buy U disk, mobile hard disk and other products, but many friends always forget after using Disconnect these USB devices from the host. Since the Windows XP system will automatically detect the USB interface, if these devices are connected to the host at boot time, the system will start slowly. I personally experienced a friend's computer connected to the mobile hard disk after booting, can not enter the system, only disconnected the cable to enter. Therefore, after using USB devices such as USB flash drives and mobile hard disks, you can disconnect the host in time, and also prevent the device from being damaged due to unexpected current surges (because many chassis manufacturers are currently reducing the cost in front USB ports). There is no necessary protection circuit at all, even without the necessary grounding). In addition, friends who use notebooks should not be able to use devices such as infrared and wireless network cards, and should be disabled in the device manager. Because these expansion devices, especially network cards, have a huge impact on the speed of system startup. After disabling, the accelerated startup process is skipped for the purpose of skipping system boot detection.
Also note: Since the system automatically reads the CD-ROM drive by default, the CD-ROM drive will be detected at startup. If the CD-ROM is placed in the CD-ROM drive, it will be read automatically. If it is a multimedia CD, then it will take time to read. It will be longer and will also extend the startup time of the computer. Therefore, it is recommended that you use the CD in peacetime and remember to take it out in time.
4. Turn off the theme to clear the desktop
Many friends like beautiful themes or wallpapers, but the beauty comes at a price, that is, it consumes a lot of memory, and there are too many icons on the desktop. Because every time the system starts up to display the desktop, you first need to check whether the theme is enabled. Once it is found, it will load. Many themes eat a lot of memory. (Many users also make their own bodies are not perfect, they will appear after use. Many compatibility issues cause system failure). At the same time, the system also finds and verifies the validity of desktop shortcuts, so the more shortcuts, the longer the verification time it takes. It is recommended that you try not to use the theme as much as possible, and you can set up a beautiful wallpaper at most. Then put the desktop shortcuts into a special folder for easy management, speed up the boot and kill two birds!
5. Turn off the extra startup program
Many software will automatically run some background programs after the system starts, such as: Winamp, Office, etc.
These programs will make the startup slow, everyone should pass " Start-Run" Enter "msconfig" Enter - "Start" to close the extra startup items here. In normal times, you only need to keep the input method and firewall (according to personal settings).
In addition, it is recommended that you do not set the memory optimization software to boot. Because booting the memory is not only very effective, but also seriously affects the startup speed. The correct way is to use the memory to save the name after the operation of Photoshop and other software that requires a lot of memory. (In fact, from the Win2000 start operating system's own memory management has been quite perfect, the development of today's winXP for memory management is more scientific and effective, the use of memory finishing effect is limited)
6. Anti-virus software is also troublesome
Some anti-virus software Provides the system startup scan function, which will take a lot of time, in fact, if you have opened the real-time monitoring function of the anti-virus software, and regularly check the system for virus detection, then the scanning system is superfluous at startup, or will this Function is forbidden!
