How to use LVM to manage partitions in Ubuntu system

  

LVM is an abbreviation of logical partition management, which is an abstract management layer. Whether you are creating a storage pool or a partition, you need to use Linux LVM. This article will introduce how to use LVM in Ubuntu system.

One of the first things to know about using LVM is that there is no easy way to convert an existing legacy partition into a logical volume. You can move the data to a new partition using LVM, but this is not mentioned in this article; here, we will install a new Ubuntu 10.10 to set up LVM. To install Ubuntu with LVM you need to use a different installation CD. Download and burn to the CD from the link below or create a USB drive using unetbootin.

1. installation disk to start your computer, and select the entire disk and set up LVM disk from a selection interface.

Note: This will format your entire disk, so if you are trying dual boot or other installation options, choose Manual.
