The i386's register

80386, as a member of the 80X86 family, must be backward compatible, that is, it must support both 16-bit processors and 32-bit processors. In the 8086, all registers are 16-bit. Let's take a look at the changes in the registers in the 80386:

· Extend the 16-bit general-purpose registers, flag registers, and instruction pointer registers to 32-bit. The register

· segment register is still 16 bits.

· Add 4 32-bit control registers

· Add 4 system address registers

· Add 8 mode registers

· ; Add 2 test registers
