Application Load Balancing - Double the speed of your diskless station connection

We know that for diskless classrooms, the server's network card is an important bottleneck. If it is a large diskless computer room, such as more than 60 computers, the 100M network card is not enough. It is of course possible to use a Gigabit NIC, but the corresponding Gigabit switch is required, and there is also a real PCI64 server board support, which is relatively expensive. In fact, as long as we install multiple 100Migabit NICs on the server and bind these NICs to work like a NIC, we can double the connection speed of the server and increase the reliability. This is what is said. Load balancing technology, and all the cost is just to buy a few more network cards.

Multi-NIC binding is more common on Intel's network card, and the cost is quite expensive. If we often use the Rtl8139 NIC, if you want to bind it, you need to use a software called NICexpress. First download the software at http://www.piaodown.com/down/soft/8000.htm. NICexpress can support most of the NICs on the market today, and compatibility is still very good. Now let's use this software to bind multiple network cards.

1. Installing Hardware
Install two or more 100M NICs on the server. It is best to use the same type of NIC, and then connect the NIC to the same switch with a network cable. The software has no special requirements for the switch, the most common switch can. Once these are all ready, we can install the software on the server.

2. Installation Software
This software can only be installed under the operating system of the NT kernel. Double-click the download file NICExpressW2KEE.exe to install it. When installing to the interface shown in Figure 1, be sure to note that this option is to ask whether to enable load balancing. Be sure to select "enable" here; continue to click [Next], and Figure 2 appears. When the interface is displayed, you are prompted to bind the network card, select the network card, and click [add] to add both network cards. Then click "OK→Finish" and you will be fine.

3. Set virtual network card
Right click on Network Neighborhood, select Properties, pop-up "Network and Dial-up Connection" window, you can see that there is a virtual network card called "NIC Express Virtual Adapter", which is actually the bound network card. group. We can right-click on the icon to set the IP address and subnet mask parameters directly to the virtual network card.

So far we have achieved multi-NIC binding. Using multiple network card bindings not only can effectively increase the speed of the server's throughput data, but once one of the network cards fails, the remaining network cards can still work and the reliability is improved. After the actual test, the startup speed of the diskless station is significantly improved, and the speed of opening a large application is also significantly accelerated. How about, if your computer room also uses a diskless station, give it a try.
