Building a personal server is so simple!

What is the most regrettable thing for intranet users? Of course, it is impossible to set up functions such as personal servers, FTP servers, and E-mail servers. In order to get these services, you must use port mapping on the server side, which is very troublesome. However, the TL-R410 multi-function broadband router comes with the client and port mapping function of the domain name server. The strong combination of the two functions makes it very simple for the intranet users to establish a personal server (the author is ADSL). Broadband access).

1. Dial-up connection

In the setting page of TL-R410 multi-function broadband router, select “PPPoE” for the WAN port connection type in the network parameter→WAN port setting (Fig. 1). Fill in the account and password of ADSL Internet access in the online account and password, and then select automatic connection.

Enter the dynamic DNS parameter setting page, the server provider chooses the peanut shell, if you don't have the peanut shell free domain name, you need to click "Register" to register the free domain name (to register the user name on the peanut shell website: Dnb, password: dnb, free domain name: dnb.vicp.net for example). Fill in the user name registered on the peanut shell website: dnb, password: dnb. Check Enable DDNS (Domain Name Server) and the router will automatically connect to the DDNS server. Then click "Save" to save the settings. When the router automatically connects to the DDNS server next time, it will connect according to the saved settings. When the domain name information is displayed as dnb.vicp.net, it means that the connection has been successful.

3. Port Mapping

In the virtual server page of the forwarding rule (Figure 2), map the port 80 of the server to the IP address of the computer on which the web server is to be created (eg 192.168.1.100) ).
Tip: Since a user name of peanut shell can support up to 16 free domain names, you can create multiple web servers in the LAN. However, when you need to register multiple domain names, you need to associate the web server port with the IP address of the web server on the LAN. When accessing the domain name requested, you need to add the corresponding port.

4. Client provided

clients require Windows XP SP1 + IIS 5.1, IP address is set to a fixed 192.168.1.100.

Open the Internet Service Manager and select the IP address in the website tab as 192.168.1.100 and the port to fill in 80 (the IP address here is the same as the setting on the router virtual server page). Other settings are not detailed.

5. Test and Summary

Enter http://192.168.1.100 in the address bar of Internet Explorer. If you can open the web server, your Internet Service Manager settings are successful. At this point you can access your personal server at http://dnb.vicp.net. If you can't access it, please check if the router settings are incorrect.

The TL-R410 multi-function broadband router integrates the client of the domain name server. As an ADSL user, if you want to set up a personal server when multiple people share the Internet, the TL-R410 will be a good choice for you.
