About Samba Server (2)

3, the server's operation
After the configuration is complete, you are ready to run the server. First test the configuration with the testparm test program provided by Samba. If it is normal, you can start the server.
The Samba server consists of two daemons, smbd and nmbd. The smbd process acts as an SMB server that provides file and printer sharing; the nmbd process acts as a NetBIOS name server, which provides most of the functionality of the WINS service on NT.
Log in as root and execute the following command:

# /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D
#/usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D

4, configure Win 9x client
1). First configure c:\\windows\\hosts file
plus the IP address of the Linux host in the machine name corresponding to the entry;
2) Configuring Network Properties
Install NetBEUI, TCP/IP Network Protocol (installed!), Microsodt Network Client. If the DNS service is also configured on the Linux Samba server, you must specify the IP address of the DNS server.
3). When booting, log in to the network with the user name defined in the configuration file, right click on "Network Neighborhood", select "Map Network Drive", select the drive letter, and then enter the corresponding username and password, or enter \\linuxtmp (any available account can be shared). If the mapping is successful, the SambaServer that the previous network neighbor could not see should be visible at this time. Otherwise, run the smbclient -L client hostname from the server and refresh it.
