Install MSN prompt Windows Installer expired solution

Recently, Microsoft officially forced users to upgrade MSN for security reasons. When the user logs in to the MSN, if the system detects that the current version is not the specified new version, the system will prompt you to update, otherwise the user cannot log in normally. However, during this update process, some users may encounter obstacles that MSN cannot upgrade, and the system prompts "Windows Installer version has expired."

Little knowledge: What is Windows Installer?

Windows Installer is a service component of the Windows system and can be seen as an extensible software management system. Installation of Windows Installer management software, addition and deletion of management software components, maintenance of monitoring files, etc.

The system prompts that the Windows Installer version has expired (prompted content when expanding the details)

When this problem occurs, there may be some users who think that the Microsoft operating system is installed. Before and after a certain software, the corresponding data of the software program decompression, installation, etc. are stored in a folder. In other words, some files are automatically generated in a folder under the user account. Because the two files are duplicated, the installer cannot be selected normally after the system is decompressed.

Tip:

When Microsoft introduced MSN8.5, there were users who installed the Chinese version before, but later could not install the Chinese version. At this time, you need to delete the "WindowsLiveInstaller" and "WLInstaller" files in the "C:\\Users\\All Users" file directory (X stands for the system drive letter) before you can install them normally.

But the problem described in this article is not the case. The reason described at the beginning of the article is simple: the "Windows Installer version is too old" in your current system. At this point, users only need to download and install the latest Windows Installer to solve the above problem. (This method is tested in the Windows XP SP2 + MSN2009 trial version)

Click to enter the official Microsoft download page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=zh-cn& FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4

When solving this problem, there are two points to note:

1. Some users may press when the upgrade (update) fails. The system prompts you to choose Windows Update. Because Windows Update wants to "verify the copy", it is not recommended for non-genuine system users to use this method;

2. When entering the official Windows Installer version download provided by Microsoft, the user needs to select the corresponding system version.
