After upgrading IE, right-click menu download item invalidation problem

The author's machine also installed Windows XP, Windows Vista two operating systems, usually working in Windows XP system, recently updated IE to version 7.0, but When using Thunder, it was unexpectedly found that "Use Thunder download" in the right-click menu failed.

Search Microsoft official technical forum, found that the value of the BrowseNewProcess string in the registry, it is said that the value determines whether the two processes explorer.exe.exe, iexplore.exeI are separated or merged, can be set to " Yes" or "no".

Open the Registry Editor on Windows XP, and then navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\explorer\\BrowseNewProcess" and find the "BrowseNewProcess" string value in the right pane. Set to "no" instead of the default "yes". In this case, the two processes explorer.exe.exe and iexplore.exe will be merged together. When browsing the webpage, the iexplorer.exe process may be overwritten by the explorer.exe process in some cases, and the embarrassing The download tool such as Thunder is currently only able to identify the IE process iexplorer.exe, which is why the right-click menu is invalid. What's more, if you open the webpage window too much, the webpage crashes and it is easy to cause Explorer.exe to crash.

We can go to Windows Vista to check and open the Registry Editor to locate the same location. Under normal circumstances, the "BrowseNewProcess" string value in the right pane should be set to "yes" by default. This means that IE uses a separate process, open the "Task Manager → Process" dialog box, you can also find two independent processes explorer.exe, iexplore.exe here.

Knowing the reason, it is much simpler to solve. Restart the system and enter Windows XP. Open the registry editor and change the "BrowseNewProcess" string value to "yes". After refreshing, open IE, Express, and Thunder. After running for a long time, there is no fault. Open the Tasks tab of the Task Manager. We can also find two independent processes, explorer.exe and iexplore.exe. If you have encountered the same problem, you may wish to try it according to the method described in this article.
