IE7 directly enter the FTP address can not log in how to do

This article describes how to solve the problem of failing to log in to the server by directly entering the FTP address in IE7.0 through the Windows XP system settings.

Recently, the author installed Windows XP system newly, and the IE version that comes with the system is 7.0. Enter the internal network FTP address in the IE address bar, such as ftp://x.x.x.x, and find that you cannot log in to the server, but enter http://x.x.x.x and find that you can open the web page. Because the operating system is newly installed, it is basically impossible to log in to the FTP server due to system failure or viruses. But this has never happened in the lower version of IE, which is very puzzling.

I tried to open "My Computer" and entered the FTP address in the address bar, but found that I can open the FTP server. It is inferred that the FTP address can be directly entered in the address bar of IE 7.0, and the FTP server cannot be logged in, but must be logged in by other means. After trying, I found the following two methods:

First, open "My Computer", and then directly enter the FTP server address in the address bar.

Second, open "My Network Places", click the "Add a Network Neighborhood" link, pop up the "Add Network Neighborhood" window, and click "Next" until the "Internet or Network Address" dialog box appears. frame. In this case, enter the FTP server address and click Next. In the dialog that appears, select Anonymous login or enter a username to log in with a username. Then click "Next" and enter the name of the network neighborhood in the pop-up dialog box. Click Next until you are finished.

In the future, if you want to log in to the FTP server, you can open "Network Neighborhood" (as shown in the figure) and double-click the established Network Neighborhood icon.
