Create Chinese Startup Menu

If you haven't installed the software yet, look at it: Install and run EasyBoot

Load/New Launch Menu File

1) Press "Open" to load the menu file.
(Note: The cdmenu.ezb sample is automatically generated after installation, which can be modified on this basis. It is very convenient.)

2) Press "New" to create a new menu file.

5 kinds of object properties of the startup menu

1) Screen layout: The definition of the color area on the screen, including the upper left corner, lower right corner coordinates, edge color /body color /edge width and other parameters.



2) Display text: The text display definition on the screen, including the upper left corner, lower right corner coordinates, text content, alignment and other parameters.


3) menu bar: Screen highlight bar indicates the currently selected item to start, run and the corresponding command. In addition to the upper left corner, lower right corner, background /foreground
parameters, further comprising:

* Run command: command corresponding to the menu bar, can be classified into class 2
a) run Run the image file to start the DOS/98/NT/2000/XP
command: run dos98.img
run w2ksect.bin
b)boot command
boot 80 boot from the hard disk
Boot 0 Floppy boot
reboot Restart
(Note: If a menu bar executes multiple commands, separate it with ";". For example, cd boot;run w2ksect.bin.)

* Shortcut: The user can directly select/execute by pressing the specified button. The shortcut keys can be ASCII buttons such as 0-9/a-z/A-Z.
* Set as default menu: Set the current menu to start the default menu.
* Cursor keys: Press the up, down, left, right, tab and other cursor keys to navigate the menu bar on the current menu, divided into 3 cases
a) 00 -- default, up, left select the previous one Menu item, down, right, tab select next menu item
b) 99 -- Disabled, this kind of cursor key has no effect
c) 01-36 -- Direct jump to the corresponding menu item

(Note: Set the foreground color and background color of the highlight attribute to be the same, and set the foreground and background colors of the normal attribute to achieve “transparent menu text”. When displaying, the text is displayed in high color/normal color because the background color is the same. Therefore, the background is not filled.)

4) Function keys: Directly execute the run command.
Only need to define the function keys and running commands, press the function keys to directly execute when starting.


5) global parameters:
* main menu, sub-menus: Main Menu automatically loaded when the disc starts, the run command is loaded in the sub-menu with the main menu or other submenu.
*Default menu bar: The menu bar is saved when the disc is started.
* Start waiting time: After waiting for a certain time after entering the startup screen, it automatically runs but saves the menu, which is useful for unattended installation.
* Startup directory: Put the startup files (dos98.img, w2ksect.bin) into the IMG directory to reduce the number of root files.
*Display Logo: Displays a 256x480 image file of 640x480 when the disc is booted. The user can set the file name and display time.
Note: Must be in Windows BMP format and not compressed.
* Display background image: Display 256-color image file of 640x480 size on the disc startup interface.
Note: Must be Windows BMP format, and not compressed.
* Shortcut operation mode: You can choose to execute the command directly, or just select, or execute.
*Key letter conversion: Convert the input letters to lowercase/uppercase to facilitate the selection.
* Menu file auto load, preview screen on/off, etc.


  • Edit menu object


    Note: the current object list is displayed in the control panel box highlighted; indicated by a dashed box in the preview window.
    1) Common editing functions of the control panel are as follows:
    * directly modify the parameters of the upper left corner, lower right corner coordinates, color, display text, running command, etc., directly modify, Tab or mouse to automatically modify other items.
    * "Insert" "Add" button to create a new object; "Delete" button to eliminate the object.
    * "Up" and "Down" buttons change the order in which objects are displayed.
    * "Resume" button can be restored to the state before the modification, a total of 36 steps can be restored.
    * You can set the default menu at startup, wait time, run directory of the startup file and other parameters.

    2) The common editing commands for the preview window are as follows:
    * Left mouse button - first click select screen object;
    Click (or SpaceBar) on the selected object to move the object position;
    again Click (or SpaceBar) to change the size of the object;
    * Right mouse button - confirm and modify the object properties (or Enter).
    *ESC key--Cancels the modification of the current object.
    *Tab key--Select the next object.
    *Delete key--Delete the selected object.
    *BackSpace key - Undo, restores up to 36 steps.
    * Cursor keys ---- Left, Right, Up, Down can move the cursor.
    PageUp, PageDown, Home, End can change the order in which objects are displayed.

    • Start menu to save the file


      press "Save" to automatically generate the required startup files and menu files.
