Super rescue disk combined with Ghost one method

The author introduces the method of using the super rescue disk combined with Ghost software for system maintenance.

Note: Since Windows 98 system and Windows 98+ Windows XP dual system can enter pure DOS mode, it is not discussed here, here is only the installation of Windows XP desktop system.

Design Ideas

Create Windows 98 DOS mode on the system disk C (only IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, COMMAND.COM three files), then install Windows XP system, This produces a dual system boot entry for Windows 98 and Windows XP, but Windows 98 is not installed, just a simple DOS mode. Usually work into the Windows XP system, in the event of a system failure, enter the Windows 98 DOS mode, use Ghost software to restore the system. Once there is a serious problem, even if the system can't enter, use the super rescue disk to guide the system and carry out related repair and maintenance operations.

Make a super rescue disk

Download the super rescue disk file SOS_Disk.zip, then release the main file SOS4.exe and execute it, and make the floppy disk into a first-aid floppy disk. In order to prevent some computers from having a floppy drive or a floppy disk, the super rescue disk can be made into a first aid CD.

System Installation

1. To speed up the Windows XP installation process, you can copy the Windows XP installation files to your hard disk, such as the D drive.

2. Start the computer with the super rescue disk, press E to exit its menu mode, enter the Format C:/s command at the DOS prompt, format the system disk C and pass DOS 98. system. After the completion, copy one of the files named Deltree.com to the root directory of the C drive, and copy the relevant programs of the Ghost software to the Ghost directory for later use.

3. Run Winnt.exe in the I386 folder of the Windows XP installation disk to install the Windows XP system in DOS mode. After the installation is complete, do not rush to install drivers for printers, scanners, video heads, USB flash drives, etc., so that the backup files to be made are as small as possible.

System Backup

After Windows XP installation is complete, shut down and restart the computer, select the second menu item "Microsoft Windows 98", enter the pure DOS mode of Windows 98, use the Deltree /y command format Directly delete the two files Pagefile.sys and Hiberfil.sys in the root directory of the C drive. These two files are hidden attributes and cannot be deleted by the normal Del command. Therefore, the DOS file of Deltree.com is copied. The purpose is to make the following backup file as small as possible, so that it can be burned to the disc for saving in the future, and then use the Del command to delete the Deltree.com files. Finally, run the Ghost software and make the system partition into a GHO image file, such as Dos98_winxp.gho, and save it to other partitions. To prevent errors on the entire hard drive, we can burn the Dos98_winxp.gho file to a disc and save it.

System First Aid

Through the above steps, you have already prepared for future system emergency work. Because the backup is the entire system partition, so if there is anything wrong, just use the Ghost software to clone the system and everything is as good as ever, get a once and for all effect. If there is a hard disk partition table error or other catastrophic serious problem, take out the first aid floppy disk or CD to guide the system and perform the corresponding first aid operation.
