When the Win10 preview version is activated, the prompt version does not match. How to do

. However, some friends reacted that the system could not be activated after installation. When entering the Microsoft released product key, it will prompt “This key cannot be used to activate this version of Windows. Please try another key & rdquo; as shown below.

This is because the Windows 10 Technology Preview image released by Microsoft actually contains two versions: Windows Technical Preview and Windows Technical Preview for Consumer. The key is for the technical preview. The figure below shows the version information viewed with the Dism image deployment and management tools.

If you start the installation from the downloaded image, for example, write the ISO image to the USB flash drive to boot from the USB flash drive or run setup.exe directly, the installer will automatically select the installation technology preview version, which will be automatically installed after installation. Activation, no need to manually enter the product key; if you use a third-party shortcut installation tool, you must pay attention to the version when installing.
But friends who have installed the Consumer Technology Preview don't need to reinstall. We can upgrade to the Technology Preview directly in the Consumer Technology Preview with the system's built-in unlock feature. Here's how:
Open the Control Panel (view as a small icon), find and open “Add functionality to Windows Technical Preview for Consumer”.

Select “I have purchased the product key”.

Then enter Microsoft's public technology preview key: NKJFK-GPHP7-G8C3J-P6JXR-HQRJR, the next step after successful key verification.

Because the upgrade method is just a feature unlock and does not require reinstallation, it takes only a few minutes to complete the upgrade process. Peas are presented here in the Windows Technical Preview version. Of course, this means that there should be a higher version than Windows Technical Preview, maybe Windows Technical Preview with media center?
