How to enable "Classic Event Viewer" in Win10?

One of the management components of Win10 is the "Event Viewer" that is available on XP/Vista/Win7/Win8.1 systems. This program can provide users with a record of system events. However, the classic version of the XP era is faster because of the simpler interface. So now many professional users like to continue using the previous version.

This version exists as an ActiveX object in the C:\\windows\\system32\\els.dll file. After registering the DLL file, you will be able to use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Use this classic version of Event Viewer. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Right click on the start button and select "Command Prompt (Administrator)".

2, execute regsvr32 els.dll, and then you will see the registration success prompt, as shown below -

3, enter mmc at the command prompt, and then press Enter to execute , open the console.

4. Click File→Add/Remove Management Unit, as shown below—

5. Select “Classic Event Viewer” on the left side of the pop-up window, then click on the middle “ Add "" button, click "Finish" in the pop-up dialog box, and then click "OK" to close "Add or delete snap-in", as shown below -

6. You can customize the viewer name and icon in File → Options, the console mode can be set to “User Mode - Full Access”, and check “Do not save changes to this console”, click “OK”. This setting ensures that the console provides full access and provides a more secure operation.

7. Finally, click File → Save to name the console you just created. Make a friendly name for future opening in "Run", such as jdsjckq.msc. Note that the suffix name must be msc, do not modify it.
